White Night 2014

I arrived quite late this year for the White Night because I just decided to hang out with my friends this year and casually take some photographs of the artworks. Because I was late. Everyone arrived before me and so I was stuck at Flinders St Station, but that did stop me from taking photographs that I was very happy with.

Went to a Taiwanese restaurant called Food Republik the other day in Box Hill. The food was pretty authentic. My favourite was the oyster noodle soup and it was pretty cheap too.

This painting was influenced by a hymn called ‘Here I am, Lord’, which is one of my favourite hymns.

I’ve cut out the parts I’ve used and here it is below: “ I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard My people cry. All who dwell in dark and sin, My hand will save.

I, who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear My light to them? Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord, Is it I Lord? I have heard You calling in the night. I will go Lord, if You lead me. I will hold Your people in my heart…. “

The lyrics basically summed up what the painting's all about but I’ve also done a little explanation. So here it goes.. The star in the sky represents the Lord. The light represents his love. His love is vivid with colour and so powerful that not even the streetlights on the street could compare to the power of his love (his love lights up everything). Our future may be unclear or uncertain, but with his guidance he will lead us through every step of the way.
