Downtown Los Angeles Gallery Map
Thanks to Amy for getting me this map and CB1 Gallery for making it easy to make a day of visiting galleries in this important art district of LA with this handy guide.
No more excuses. Go check out some art!
So important to have!
Finished drawing #5 Wheat pasting posters tonight. Sandwich board designed and ordered. Vinyl and extra show cards arrived. Also showing art at the gallery and at commons. Woop!
Studio update 11/3
Working on drawing #5 of 6.
Show cards are delivered and I've already begun distribution. Business cards are here. Vinyl is ordered and should be done by Monday. Statement frame is purchased. Guestbook is here. Takeaways are here. Digital Signage is scheduled.
All that is left is to finish drawing, install posters around campus, get ready for the reception!
Studio Update October 13, 2016
All the show materials done this week
Artist Statement and presentation Business Cards Show Cards Poster Font, cover image and title chosen for branding Take away selected (blue ball point pens displayed in jar) Presentation decided (thumb tacks)
Also finished another drawing for my second crit tonight (will update with the documentation)
Studio Update: 10/4 Been chipping away at this one. This will mirror the treehouse window drawing I already have. The paper and pen are responding much better. I hope to have this done by Sunday.
Studio update 9/29 Finished up this guy. Starting drawing 3 this weekend. Had a crit, revising show titles, wrote statement, wrote cover letter, finalized business cards and resumé.
Studio update: 9/22 Started a new drawing this week. Had some trouble finding a location to do the line work. This week was heavy in some other work but I should have this drawing done by Tuesday.
Studio Update 9/15
First drawing done except for the side and signage. Starting the new drawing this weekend.
Also built a carrying case for easy storage and transport to the gallery.
Business cards, resumé and scale model are done and ready for submission.
Studio update 8/9
Made significant progress on my first drawing. I should finish it this week and get a start on the next one.
Also designed a business card.
I bought my first car outright. So that’s a big deal.
And celebrated a perfect anniversary with my man.
Another progress shot. I worked out the best way to get some strong darks in fast.
My current struggle is how to draw many smooth geometric services with a small blue ball point pen. The results have been fun.
Studio update. Sketches almost done. One more to do. More progress on the large one. Will finish next week.
Studio Update 8/30
Hello again. Here’s what I’ve been up to over the summer.
Working full time as a technical support rep.
House/pet sitting for the majority of the summer.
Getting internship hours on campus (completed 45 hours).
Lived with a complicated home situation.
Was the MOH in my best friend’s wedding.
In terms of my artistic practice, I have done the following:
Purchased a projector for my initial line work.
Photographed my 5 locations for my drawings.
Created the compositions and sketches for my drawings.
Mapped out the locations in the gallery for my drawings.
Purchased the proper pens and paper for my projects (5′ roll).
Constructed a 5′ x 8′ drawing board.
Moved studio spaces to facilitate my large scale drawings.
Completed one drawing (tree house window)
Completed the line work for my first drawing and began laying down the darks.
Put together my artistic resumé
Came up with a working show title.
At this point I can focus exclusively on drawing and creating promo and show material.
This semester:

Sculpture 1
Internship
Culimation
Philosophy & Aesthetics
When low on supplies, paint with a pool noodle. For best results, use a line green noodle.
Hello again. I’ll be saying goodbye very soon.
