John sighed, not bothering to hide that she was irritated with Sherlock forgetting about today. “No, we don’t have a case. Grab your coat. We have twenty minutes to make it to the appointment.”
There was a pause as Sherlock tried to remember what appointment John meant, and her eyebrows flew up when she figured it out. “That’s—really, already?” She frowned slightly, rising to her feet quickly. “I’ll admit to losing track of days, but I hadn’t realized this was already upon us.” There was a pause as she patted her trousers, shaking away any dust. “But yes, I suppose we’d better be going.”
"Yes, already." John glanced down at her watch. "And if we don't get going, we'll miss the appointment and I'll be stuck wearing a sheet." She turned and headed for the door. "Let's go, Sherlock."

John hadn’t exactly thought through all of the pros and cons of asking Sherlock to be her maid of honor. It had been an easy decision. Sherlock was her best friend. Who else would she have asked? Of course, John hadn’t thought about what would happen when the time came for her to go find a dress for her wedding. She almost didn’t want to call Sherlock and ask her to go with her. But she did, and now the time had come.
She walked into 221 B and looked around for the other woman. “Sherlock? We need to go.”
Sherlock was still in the process of planning, her usual wall of case notes instead full of wedding options. If she was doing this, she was doing it full-out. And she had to admit, there was something soothing about folding napkins.
She nearly toppled from her seat on the floor when she heard John’s voice, staring up at her partner uncertainly. “What is it? Do we have a case? I do hope we have a case, I’ve been rather bored as of late…”
John sighed, not bothering to hide that she was irritated with Sherlock forgetting about today. "No, we don't have a case. Grab your coat. We have twenty minutes to make it to the appointment."

[Okay so someone hacked into my account and I had to reset a bunch of passwords and now I'm tired, SO I'LL POST THE THING TOMORROW.]

You’d be surprised what I’d do for love.
Time. It never follows the rules. Sixty seconds in a minute, sixty minutes in an hour--each second should feel just as long as the previous and next, yet it never does. Her fall didn't take seconds; it took hours. Months.
Nightmares. Unnamed faces traded for a bloody image of a body against the pavement. Terror and gore replaced by an echoing goodbye and eyes void of life. And she wanted them back. She wanted the forgotten names and horrifying images back to chase away the one thing she couldn't escape.
Anger. A cold, dead body buried beneath dirt as muddy as her soul. Tears that burned her blue eyes but refusing to fall. Nails that dug into her palms that wanted to claw at the dirt to discover an empty grave, proving that she was living in a nightmarish lie. Boots that dug into the ground as she turned away, swearing never to return, yet always failing to do so.
And somewhere in that length of time, between the nightmares and anger, John learned to let go. Boxes of memories shipped away to gather dust, but never forgotten. A tattered mind that was slowly being mended. An empty heart that learned how to love. Tied together with the weak strings of hope and desire, she emerges from her tomb to taste life once more.
Once more, and then it all comes down.
A ghost appears, breathing and smirking like time doesn't matter. Time freezes once more. The nightmares drift into her reality. Breathing is impossible, despite the loving voice of a future she once saw telling her it's alright. Bloody head against a bloody pavement in a bloody waiter's outfit. Once the fear rushes over and her past merges with her reality, she finally has a clam moment of clarity. There was only a single thing to do
John Watson reminds Sherlock she used to be a soldier once more. And she has had a lot of bad days.
[If someone sent me an ask, tumblr ate it. :/]
[Okay now I'm thinking about what John's "Mary" would be like, so I'm going to lurk and work on some graphics before I get too invested in him.]
[John spends the entire night tossing and turning because she’s upset, but that’s her friend downstairs so she should probably get her a blanket or something. But then she’d just end up going NOPE SHE PRETENDED TO BE DEAD REMEMBER YOU CAN BE NICE LATER.
It will definitely be both funny and painful.]
[[Sherlock refuses to admit to her discomfort and uses her coat as a pillow and then probably grumbles out a SORRY I PRETENDED TO BE DEAD FOR TWO YEARS I GUESS half-heartedly in the morning while swearing to never sleep on couches again (which is a vow promptly ignored)
funny and painful in both literal and figurative ways]]
[John accepts the "apology" and finally gives Sherlock the key to the storage facility where her things are. Because even though she's upset that her friend lied to her, she doesn't want a grumpy Sherlock on her hands.]
