Mount Kinabalu from afar.
Klias river, 2 hours drive away from Kota Kinabalu city center is a magical place. You can see wild monkeys during the day, one of the most gorgeous sunsets and thousands of fireflies at night, so many that trees light up like Christmas trees.

April 2015
It was our first day of Spring break back in 2015. After taking a plane for about 3 hours then taking a bus for another 10hours or so, we arrived at Chichen Itza, the great Mayan pyramid. A myth says that you could see a snake dancing on top under the full moon.

MOVIE REVIEW: SPECTRE
A visible incorporeal phantom of his life has finally chased him down and is about to stab him with a needle in the throat. In Spectre - the twenty-fourth James Bond film produced by Eon Productions -, the other shady part of 007’s invincibility is revealed.
The movie depicts James Bond’s first encounter with the criminal organisation SPECTRE, and other recurring characters such as M, and Q return with the new additions such as Léa Seydoux as Dr. Madeleine Swann, and Monica Bellucci as Lucia Sciarra - yes, Daniel Craig gets all the beautiful women again -. While the length of the film seems to be never-ending, eye-catching visual effects and foreshadowing symbols throughout the movie makes it a durable journey with a real cliff hanger ending.
A cryptic message from the previous M sends James Bond (Daniel Craig) on a secret mission to Mexico City where he encounters and kills the infamous villain, Sciarra. After several`risky encounters with villains, Bond discovers the existence of Spectre, and infiltrates a secret meeting with Sciarra’s ring, where he meets Franz Oberhauser, whom he believes to be dead. With Dr. Swann, the daughter of an old nemesis, he embarks on a mission to get to the heart of SPECTRE, and discovers a connection to his own past and to his enemy, Blofeld (Christoph Waltz).
As in all Bond movies, Spectre does not disappoint but mesmerizes our eyes and ears with breathtaking global locales and camera techniques that draw the viewers in. The Movie begins in Mexico City on the Day of the Dead, El Dia de Muertos, with a caption “The dead are alive,” and with a booming drumbeat in the background and a street-full of crowd dressed in skeletal and colorful costumes. Then moves to Rome, London, Austria, and Morocco. Does the dead actually come alive? I’ll leave that up to your own imagination. Another word that keeps on resonating is “cuckoo.” Blofeld is always making that annoying cuckoo noise around Bond to tease and provoke him. Cuckoo. Cuckoo. Cuckoo. A cuckoo is often referred to a person who acts in a similar way to the bird, entering a friend’s home and eating, using, and stealing their possessions. A person who is a Cuckoo may also attempt to subvert a friend's parents to their own greedy whim, making them believe he or she is needy, and in doing so neglect their biological offspring. Blofeld’s continued repetition of ‘cuckoo’ around Bond suggests the feeling of betrayal, another clue leading to Bond’s past.
The 007, James Bond series has turned into an icon; generations of Bonds and Bond girls have lived along side through the times with us, and been loved by adrenaline junkies and admirers of the Bond looks.
“You’re a kite dancing in the hurricane, Bond,” says Blofeld. We’ll see if Spectre survives this hurricane and become one of the successful 007 movies.
I was searching for a great hotel in Hong Kong, and thought of Ovolo Southside; let’s say that I desperately needed a holiday of my own. A staycation it is. Check out this article I wrote at a media invite to Ovolo Southside hotel in Hong Kong if you are feeling the same as I do!
