Lazy Morning // Mason & Tabby
It would be so easy to fake a laugh and forget it. Go back to the way things were. But that was cowardly and Tabby was curious. Blame her Ravenclaw spirit but she wanted to know how Mason felt, felt about her. Tabby had never felt this way before, she had no frame of reference. Part of her was terrified that she would ruin this. That she would take after her mother and have person after person walk out of her life. Tabby didn’t think she could handle Mason loving and leaving her like all her mother’s boyfriends had done. But how does one even have a relationship? What would she need to do if she became Mason’s… girlfriend? Partner? Lover? Tabby had so much love to give, she just didn’t want it to be wasted because the blonde in her bed had that power. Mason could kill her with a smile and that would be it.
“You didn’t have too much to drink. We were both tipsy but that doesn’t mean what you said wasn’t true. At least at the time it was. What I want to know is why you said it and whether you want it to mean something now?” She said quietly but firmly.
Mason lay thoughtful, letting Tabby’s words wash over her, not wanting to rush into saying something she didn’t mean, not wanting to be missunderstood, not wanting to lose such a precious friendship over thoughts and feelings lost in translation. This was her one chance to not be a coward and finally do as Logan had told her to do; just tell Tabby how she felt.
She took a moment to scratch Gwen behind the ears, the cat staring at her as if to say ‘what are you waiting for you’ve been head over heals for months.’
...and breathe, Mason told herself closing her eyes for a long moment. “I meant what I said.” She paused, scared. “I meant it then and I ment it now.” G-d she felt sick with nerves. “I’ve meant it for quite a while too.”
