I speak openly about my mental health issues for many reasons. To show others they are not alone. To prove you can thrive and survive and to also give hope to those that aren't. To show its OK to be different while showing for some of us different is normal. To show that my accomplishments don't come easy and to explain why I celebrate them more than others, only to quickly doubt them with my next breath. To show that every day and everything is a battle, that sometimes I lose and oftentimes it's messy.
