Our girl Lo being a happy drunk :)
This scene. This fucking scene. Let’s talk for a moment about how this is the most heartbreaking and perfect scene ever.
So, we’ve got Clark Kent, the most romantic boy ever, who basically spent his whole life adoring one girl: Lana Lang. It was a doomed romance for many reasons, but mostly because Clark had this innate goodness and a moral compass he wouldn’t abandon, while Lana - despite loving Clark - felt herself being pulled to the dark side. She was the girl who married a Luthor, who faked her own death to steal his money, who slept with Bizzaro becaus she felt closer to him than to Clark, who stole Lex’s power suit, condemning him to die, just so she herself could gain superpowers.
And Clark? He stuck with Lana, because he loved her, because he could never abandon someone he loved. But there were trust issues. Fucking big trust issues.
And then they broke up finally, because of certain circumstances. But Clark still held on to his love for Lana, because you don’t get over your One True Love. Right?
And then there was Lois Lane, Clark’s sometimes friend, sometimes foil. They liked teasing each other and getting into verbal sparring matches, but they also always supported each other when push came to shove.
Anyway, Lois fell in love with Clark and he simply ignored it for the better part of a year. But then he split with Lana and after some time he thought he could give it a try with Lois, because why not? And it worked, being with Lois was actually easy and Clark was happy to his own surpirse. They made each other smile, they turned each other on, they supported each other’s career - they were equal partners in every way.
But then stuff happened. Villainous plots, costumed vigilantes, alien invasions,… the usual. Clark created a secret identity for his hero persona, but he couldn’t bring himself to be honest with Lois, so she drew her own conclusions and wrongly assumed that Clark was secretly working agains the city’s mystery hero.
Now, if Lana would have been in the same situation, she would have protected Clark at all costs - just like Chloe, Oliver or Tess would have done. They all would have commited any crime to protect Clark.
What did Lois do? She loved Clark, but she thought he was hurting people, so she turned against him and stole the Book of Ra from him.
Lois betrayed Clark for the greater good. And that’s this scene. This fucking scene! When Clark Kent finally realizes that Lois Lane has the same moral code as him. That she would rather shatter her own heart than stand by any injustice. That she embodies everything that he wants to stand for. That she - despite all her flaws - is the very best humanity has to offer. That she is not only worthy of him, but that he has to be the best damn hero possible to be worthy of her. Because that’s when Clark Kent finally, truly, completely believes in Lois Lane, his own personal hero and role model.
