Kennedy felt incredibly awkward most days around people she wasn’t necessarily friendly with, but she hoped it didn’t show as the two of them spoke, “Better?” she asked, “How so?” 

Abby let out a short laugh. “I can’t give that away. I didn’t need the party being less for others. Maybe someone can appreciate it more than I can at the moment.” She looked around the room, a soft smile on her face. It wasn’t that there was anything wrong with her party, there were just a few details that didn’t go the way she wanted. She was a bit of a perfectionist some times. “What do you think? You can be honest.”

“Where are my manners, would you like a drink Miss birthday girl?” Owen smiled, purposely avoiding her question.

“I’ve asked that question plenty. I could take a drink, and an answer.” Abby responded, smirking at him.

Abby smiled at the girl, waving off her thanks. “No need to thank me. You’re friends with my friends, and I like you, so I sent you an invite. Nothing big.” Her words were somewhat true. The party was happening on her parent’s private property, so an invite was very helpful to getting in. “Eh, it could’ve been better, but I’m thoroughly pleased. Hopefully everyone else is as well.”

“Oh, trust me I have plenty of things in mind, but I wouldn’t call them a plan. Yes, yes you do.”

“My interest is peaked. Mind sharing some of these things?” Abby smirked at his words.

My parents got another house in the Hampton’s, then decided they didn’t want it so…I asked If I could give you a set of keys and they said yes. It’s right across from my place, and fully furnished and all that. They’ll never be there, it’s going to be empty so…why not? Now we can have little house dates!”

“Impossible to be sad. Promise. Welcome, my love.” Abby’s eyebrows raised at her friend’s words. “So, a house. Like, a legit a house. Across from you. Is there anything better?" She exclaimed, jumping up and down. “Wait. I doubt my parents would let me stay there. I’m sure we’ll work something out. Oh my god, you’re so fucking cool. I love you, Mia.”

“That’s not a problem. Screw boys, then move on to the next one. I don’t know…but in my defense I was smart with him, I didn’t get attached. Literally all we did was fuck and smoke. “ she said with a shrug. “What? How did you not get that, I literally just gave it away!”

“It’s been five months since I’ve dated someone. I think I’m fine with not dating someone on my birthday. Means there could be more fun for me. I might just do that. Of course you were. You’re you.” She furrowed her eyebrows at her friend’s words. “A house?”
