“Your honesty is refreshing, I mean I can’t say I’ve ever had the same revelations. That might have more to do with I don’t have them any time of day.” He looked sheepish at her words knowing he had just admitted to something that she would find weird.

“Thank you.” She replied smiling before a light laugh fell from her lips at his confession. “Well, at least you’re honest, though I’m sure you’ve had a revelation here and there.”

The corner’s of his lips grew into a smile. “I thought as much.” Andrew waited a moment before replying, simply saying: “In a way.” Not the way that meant he was sorry that Isaac had left, of course. “I could have said that, but I didn’t think it would help all that much.” He told her honestly. It was useless to lie and tell her that he wished Isaac hadn’t left her alone.

The blonde looked back down into her lap the smile having fallen from her face as her thoughts returned to her nightmare, though her brother’s words brought her back out of her head. “Thanks for not saying it.” She stated quietly as she tugged on her pyjama sleeve trying her hardest not to think about the carving or rather the scar on her arm. She often found herself self-conscious of the mark, always hiding it out of view not only from others but herself too. Her tongue darted out brushing across her dry lips as she tried to gather her thoughts. “I feel lost.” She admitted quietly.

“So,” Jean began, pulling the cap off his head for just a moment before he placed it back on at a slightly different angle, “hypothetically speaking, if you were thinking of getting a Valentine’s present for a girl… How would you go about getting her something?” The blonde could feel his cheeks getting warmer with every word. “What would you get?” His gaze moved from the floor back up to meet hers. “Because I kind of want to get the perfect thing, but I don’t think I am very good at that and I don’t want to get her something that she wouldn’t like because that would be a little pointless and even more embarrassing and I’ve thought about some things but I don’t think they’re really that good and I don’t think I want to get the typical every day Valentine’s present that anyone could give her…” Jean finally took in a breath, before continuing. “And then that’s without even thinking about what kind of card to get and what I should write in it.” The wizard looked a little out of his depth, that’s for certain.

A wide grin tugged at the blonde’s lips as she listened to the male, hooked onto his every word. She found herself growing excited at the idea of her friend having a crush on someone. “Are we hypothetically talking about you? You don’t have to answer I know we are.” Violet replied grinning. “Who is it? Is it someone I know... Wait... Oh my gosh, is it Lucy? Please tell me it’s Lucy?” She rambled leaning forward on the table resting her chin in her hands. “I’m sorry, ignore me, I’m getting carried away.” The witch apologised smiling sheepishly as she brought her mind back to the male’s question at hand. “Okay, well, I think the most important thing is making it personalised to her so it shows you’ve really thought about it. You don’t want the generic things that everybody gets. What kind of things does she like?” She asked prompting the male. “Let’s get the present sorted first and then we can worry about the card.”

11: When you are dating someone do you believe in going on “breaks”? 

I guess I might consider going on one as a last resort instead of resorting to splitting up straight away, I’d perhaps consider taking a break to see if that was what I wanted but if you’re talking about more than one break I’d say no, if you need to have multiple breaks I’d say something wasn’t quite working in the relationship. 

16: Do you believe in “love at first sight”?

No, I don’t suppose I do.

22: Do you think people should date their friends?

I think this would depend on the people, it might work for some but it might not work for others. I’ve tried it personally and it didn’t work for us as I don’t think we actually cared for one another like that, I think, wires got crossed and feelings got confused - luckily our friendship was strong so we were able to return to being friends which would be the only thing that worries me about dating a friend - y’know risking that friendship.

26: Would you break up with someone your parents didn’t approve of?

I mean I don’t really have this issue and I wouldn’t like to comment because I wouldn’t know what I’d choose to do until I was in that situation.

33: Do you want to get married one day?

Yes, I would actually. 

36: Are you still a virgin?

Yes. I’d prefer not to answer that.

“I did try.” Andrew said with a smile. “But, either you’ve hidden them, or we’re out.” He hadn’t found any in the cupboard. It was nice to see the smile on his sister’s face, even though he knew it was only a temporary thing. Andrew nodded in understanding as she said his name. He wish he could say that he was surprised – well, he didn’t really wish at all – but he was not. The blond struggled to find something to say that wasn’t along the lines of: Of course he did. “I’m sorry.” He was only sorry that Violet was hurting because of it. “Is that what the dreams are about?” 

Violet gave the smallest of laughs. “I think I may have hidden them in my stomach.” She told him with a sheepish smile thinking back to all the times she’d steal one when going into the kitchen. “Are you?” The blonde asked raising a brow before continuing “If I’m honest I was expecting a told you so.” It perhaps sounded a little harsh considering her brother was sat there comforting her but she knew her brother’s feelings on the male and his disapproval of their friendship.

Isaac couldn’t help but smile in response to her words. The fact that she was glad for his return was a feeling that caused his chest to swell, and heat to prickle up the back of his neck, a slight blush forming on his cheeks. Thankfully, if she noticed he could just blame the pink tint on the cold air outside. “I thought so too..” He then nodded his head, before scratching the back of his neck as he caught his bottom lip between his teeth, chewing on it for a moment. Hearing her admit that she had missed him too was so bizarre, it was something that he thought he’d never hear from the blonde, not after everything he had done to her. He was so thrilled that they had managed to get to this stage with one another, and he couldn’t wait to see what came as time continued on. “Did you want to go get a drink or something? So we can catch up? I want to know what I’ve missed.” Isaac offered her a smile.

Violet stood there staring at the male smiling as she wrung her hands feeling slightly awkward after such a time apart. She found herself wondering what her brother would say when he found out Isaac was back. It wasn’t that long ago when she sat crying to her brother about the wizard. She knew that conversation wouldn’t go down well. Violet nodded almost too eagerly smiling at Isaac. “I would love to. I’d offer you to come inside but it might be best if we go to the bar  just in case Andrew comes back.” She stated with a sheepish smile.

Andrew smiled down at his sister and nodded, glad to see the smile that had graced her own lips – if even for just a moment. The blond’s gaze moved back to the flowers, moving over the petals that had fallen onto the coffee table. “Maybe.” Andrew agreed with another nod of the head. “This one’s still fine.” He brushed his finger along one of them – it was still at full bloom and a far cry from the others that were wilting significantly. Hearing Violet’s two low words, the blond’s brows furrowed slightly in confusion. “Left?” He asked, hoping she would clarify.

Leaning forward the blonde dipped her finger into the cream, before popping it into her mouth sucking the cream from her finger. “Mmm, it’s just missing the marshmallows.” She stated with a smile. Her eyes fell on the one flower that seemed to still be in full bloom, she’d overlooked it before distracted by the slow browning decay of the other flowers. “So it is.” Violet acknowledged with a smile. She peered over at her brother nodding. “Isaac.” She clarified pausing before continuing. “He returned to the death eaters. Turns out you were right.” A small scoff left her lips as a stray tear fell from her face.

Marcus hummed softly, his hand moving up from the back of his head to his lap. Both hands joined, and he began to pick at his nails, it was a gesture that was associated with his anxiety, and somehow managed to make him feel a little better. He chewed on his bottom lip nervously. Even though he considered Violet to be one of his best friends, he still struggled to talk about such things with her, or with anyone. It was rare that he was so honest and open about aspects of his life. “I haven’t told her but, I just- I don’t know if she’ll like me back and I don’t want to risk that. Maybe it’s just a passing crush? I don’t know..” Marcus then sighed softly, his brows drawing together. “We do, I’m with her at least every other day and I just- I love spending time with her.” He grinned happily. “I haven’t really asked her, or seen her with anyone else but there’s just.. Whispers, you know?” Marcus huffed heavily. “I’ve heard people talking about her, saying bad things. But, I don’t want to believe that she’s like that. It’s just sometimes, she loves to be touched, like I can touch her arm, or hold her hand, but others it’s like she’s repulsed by my touch and I just- I don’t understand it.” The male then sighed once again, catching his bottom lip between his teeth.

Violet had known the male for so long that she could easily pick up on the signs of his anxiety. She looked at him fondly reaching out to take his hand and give it a reassuring squeeze as if to tell him that he didn’t need to be nervous, she wouldn’t judge him or anything of the sort. “But I guess you’ll never know if you don’t ask her or at least give her a sign that you’re interested so she can make the first move if you’re too nervous to.” She told him with a kind smile. The blonde was glad that he’d found someone he liked. She found herself smiling along with him. “Bad things? Like what?” The blonde asked wanting to understand the male’s predicament fully. Violet fell silent thinking about what the male had said. “Right, so, I can’t speak for her as I don’t know her and I don’t know her situation but... speaking for myself...” She paused trying to gather her courage. She’d not really spoken to the male or anyone other than a select few people about this but she felt it might help the male. “Well, I’m an affectionate person, you know that, so I love hugging people and stuff like that but I sometimes dislike it after... well, after the attack. Sometimes it scares me. Now I’m not suggesting this is the same for her but maybe she is scared somehow? Scared of her own feelings or something? I honestly can’t say but give it some thought maybe.”

A blush rose to her cheeks as the blonde looked rather embarrassed. “Actually,  yes, it does or when I’m in the shower.” She replied with faux confidence as she raised her gaze to meet his. “In fact, I think I might find it weird if it had never happened to you, I mean, I’m pretty sure it’s a normal thing.”

Andrew nodded at his sister’s request and quickly made his way into the kitchen to fulfil it. One for her and another for him. He opened the fridge to check if they had any cream to accompany the beverage and to his luck, they did. A few minutes later, Andrew brought two perfectly crafted hot chocolates into the living room and placed it on the table in front of her. “There you go. 5 knuts extra for the toppings.” He said, laughing lightly and sitting down beside her. “What’s with the flowers?” He asked, noticing how intently she had been gazing at them before he had came back into the room.

The young witch only tore her eyes away from the flowers as she heard her brother speaking. She forced a smile to her face. Her eyes fell on the hot chocolate in his hands, a more genuine smile tugged at her lips as she noted the cream - just like when they were kids. “Can I give you an I owe you?” She joked with the smallest of laughs. Violet shrugged. “They’re dead.” She stated simply. “Elodie gave me them last week. Maybe I should replace them.” The blonde mused aloud thinking back to their mother’s love of flowers. She fell silent again, mulling things over in her head. “He left.” It was so vague that the male would probably have no idea what his sister was on about but Violet couldn’t help the words slipping from her lips.

Andrew took his sister’s hand, squeezing it tightly for reassurance. He lead the blonde out of her room, down the stairs and into the living room, turning on the lamp to get a bit of dim light filling the room. “You sit down.” He said, his tond gentle. “I’ll grab us a drink – what would you like?” He offered his sister a smile. There was a lot going on in his head about why she was having these dreams and who was the root cause of them. There were things he would like to ask, but none of that would be helpful. So, for now, he just settled on the things he could do for her. A nice warm drink and some company. Getting her out of her room was probably also a good start.

Violet felt her heart being to slow back down to its regular pace as her brother squeezed her hand. She followed him downstairs trying to concentrate on anything but her thoughts. Her eyes settled on the flowers on the coffee table as she sat down on the sofa. The blonde gave a small nod to her brother though her eyes remained on the flowers “Could I have some hot chocolate please?” She asked her voice quiet and raspy from screaming in her sleep. There were petals on the coffee table surrounding the vase. They were beginning to wilt. She tried to remember how long they’d been there for but failed to come up with an answer, she vaguely remembered Elodie giving them her after visiting Jean. The blonde found herself thinking back to when their mother was alive. She loved flowers. Violets were her favourite hence the blonde’s name, though it was lilies that she kept around the house. Violet almost felt bad for not keeping them in the house.

“No, no.. You don’t need to apologise. You were right to assume the worst, I would have too had I been in your position.” Isaac spoke, offering a slight smile, confirming his words to be true. Hands moved to her shoulders and gave them a gentle squeeze as he mulled over her question. He didn’t quite know whether he should have been honest or not in that moment. Telling her the truth could be a step in the right direction, but it could also be a step in the wrong one. Biting down on his bottom lip, he then scratched the back of his head awkwardly, before taking a breath. “I came back for you..” He spoke the truth, brows drawing together as he met her gaze once again. “I mean- I just- My mental health is uh- It’s so much better with you around. You were helping. Being with you was helping. Fixing things with-” He stumbled over his words, trying to find the right things to say. “-I just- Missed you..” Isaac then ended with a shrug of his shoulders.

“Well, on this occasion I’m glad I was wrong.” She replied with a tight smile still unable to shake the feeling of guilt. The blonde gave him one more squeeze before stepping back ending their hug. A smile rose to her face at the male’s words.”I’m glad it was helping. You’ve honestly been doing so well Isaac.” Violet reassured him smiling fondly, she knew there were people that doubted him - her bother being one of them but she could honestly tell the difference and she could tell it was genuine. “I missed you too. I’m really glad you’re back.” She considered telling him about Jayden but decided against it unsure whether it would have annoyed him.

The mere feeling of having Violet in his grasp was something so strange and yet, he found himself not wanting to let go. It had been months since he had spoken to her, even seen her, and he had missed her. Isaac had thought of her every day, not once had she left his mind since their time apart and now, having her be this comfortable around him, having her close to him, it was everything he could have hoped for and more. Features softened as she spoke, and he exhaled deeply. “Violet..” He pulled back ever so slightly so he could meet her gaze. “I didn’t want to go back, I was forced. Do you really think I would just up and leave? After all the progress we’ve made?” He asked, eyes searching hers. Catching his bottom lip between his teeth, he then lowered his gaze, though he kept his arms wrapped around the blonde’s petite frame. “It was Ruby, she said if I didn’t leave with her then she would hurt you, I had no choice.” He sighed heavily, brows drawing together as he caught her gaze once again.

Guilt flooded the blonde as she listened to the male’s explanation. She’d just assumed the worst of him without even considering there was a reason for him returning to the death eaters. Violet bit down on her lip as she looked at the male. “I’m so sorry Isaac, I just... I assumed the worst.” She admitted feeling terrible especially now knowing he did it to keep her safe. “What made you come back?”

Hearing her voice made his heart thud heavily, the sound of his heart beat ringing in his ears as his gaze fell on her. He turned all the way around to face her, his lips parted ever so slightly as he searched her eyes, trying to pin point a single emotion. His chest ached as he just stared toward her, waiting for her to make the next move. And when she did, it was one he hadn’t been expecting. As she moved toward him, Isaac quickly opened his arms and welcomed her into his grasp, his own arms wrapping around her and holding her close as he buried his head into the side of her neck. “Of course I am.” He spoke softly, before pulling away ever so slightly so he could peer down toward her. A hesitant hand then moved up to hover above her cheek for a moment, fingertips brushing over her skin gently, before dropping back to this side. “You can’t get rid of me that easily.” He sighed lightly, before pulling her back into his arms once again.

Considering the blonde had been having night terrors recently of the attack she was surprised she felt so comfortable with their physical contact, she guessed it probably had something to do with how happy she was to see him that it had just distracted her from even hesitating to hug - and for that she was grateful. She knew personally that the male wouldn’t hurt her again, that it was a different person that had attacked her but it was trying to make her snap reactions realise that. Violet felt her breath catch in her throat as the male’s hand ghosted over her cheek. “I don’t understand, I didn’t think you wanted to be here I thought you wanted to go back?” She asked her grip on him tightening slightly as he pulled her back into his arms.
