And here, finally, is my wrap-up for the series.
After teasing their universe’s underworld for years, AvED finally takes us to its version of purgatory…and it’s a lime-green shaded mini hellscape where black smoke monsters attack and drag you to …
I’ve also reviewed Episode 9!
My review of the series finale will be coming next week, followed by a series overview/autopsy around Memorial Day, which will be followed by a review of the Army of Darkness/KISS crossover comic series!
We’ve climbed a long way to get to this episode. Through terrible characterization and awful sex scenes, through weird choices and hackneyed and poorly-edited seasonal choices. But this is…
This week AvED finally pulled the trigger on the battle we’ve all been waiting for; a fight between Ruby and Kelly to the death. You have to hand it to the show – the pitched battle is momentous, …
Starz: The only way to keep AvED alive is to watch it live!
Also Starz: Spoils all of the major twists for episode 7 in a gifset that is posted to all of the show's major Tumblr tags nine hours before it airs without proper spoiler tagging.
Episode 33: Daddy Issues This week’s episode is about burials and unearthings; Candy Barr is laid to rest in a series-typical show of ignobility; Brock defies his own burial to surface in a …
Catching on up on my backlog!
Blog Updates Coming on Saturday!
Got a little bit behind my schedule, but will be updating with the last three episodes soon!
I love (one) thing about AvED.
Ash vs Evil Dead has returned to an uncertain future in a new timeslot. For a world that’s somewhat on-edge, it’s fitting that Ash’s peace has begun to go sideways. He goes from advertising his o…
Hello Deadites, I’m dad.
Brief AvED 03.01 Thoughts; SPOILERS
The sex humor is possibly WORSE than it’s ever been, and there’s some major discontinuity going on. The evil gets released in a way I’ve seen happen a million times in the comics only here it’s nonsensical and hoary, and I continue to hate Ruby’s role on the show being reduced to ‘wants to have babies’.’
On the positive, some of the kills were creative and the Deadites’ evil mischievousness is back (And felt very Evil Dead 2), and the Brandy and Ash stuff has some actual potential to grow. Arielle Carver-O’Neill has a very real, natural presence, and I liked the quarter-second of tenderness we got out of Ash around her.
It was ok, but I’ve learned not to judge a season by it’s cover.
Warning: many spoilers follow. “We’ve got a shotgun, a chainsaw, a book, and a car – not much else we need to tell Ash’s story,” Bruce Campbell pauses and
WARNING that this article is filled with a lot of mytharc spoilers and general plotline ones for season 3 of AvED!
Spoilers Under Here:
Typical plotline overstuffing. That’s wayyy to much going on for a ten episode season and the article didn’t even mention half the things we saw in the trailer.
WHY IS KELLY ILLYRIA?!
Also people are going to be pissed about Brandy suddenly being THIS important to the mytharc this late in the show. She should’ve been established as important seasons ago. Nothing says ‘we plotted on the fly’ more than this.
WHY IS KELLY ILLYRIA?!>!>!!>
THAT’S why Ash is Special? “Send in any shmoe! Good is just that powerful!” FUCK THIS SHOW.
WHY IS KELLY ILLYRIA?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
It’s time to test the mettle of man with the official poster and trailer for Ash vs. Evil Dead’s third season. I absolutely love the artwork above, and the trailer below is just as exciting.
The new season premieres on February 25 on Starz. Series stars Bruce Campbell, Lucy Lawless, Ray Santiago, and Dana DeLorenzo are joined by newcomers Arielle Carver-O’Neill and Lindsay Farris.
Read on to watch the trailer.

Reblogging with reactions:
THE GOOD: The effects were generally nicely gooey and fun. I really like the person Candy's turned in to (Too bad she's gonna be dead fairly soon in the season from what I can grasp) I actually laughed at the Harpo joke and "We're still getting to know each other." Pablo's arc is FINALLY gonna ramp up! I like Brandy so far, though I'm expecting some people to end up rejecting her. "I've never been so proud." The Brandy and Ash relationship could end up finally bringing a proper sense of feeling to the series. That little "come get some." The show's movie callbacks rarely feel earned, this one did. THE BAD: * The biggest big bad is just a giant-ass monster? Well. It is Evil Dead apropos. Yet didn't we already do this in ED2? I figure the final test would be something a little different and maybe psychologically haunting. * Again with the demonically possessed Kelly stuff? * Ruby basically being reduced to Demon-producing-mommy. She does get to threaten Brandy a little and get sawed at by Ash tho. * I still have no idea what the hell Dalton has to do in this season. He's important enough to have a character poster and doesn't show up at all in the trailer? * Ash...forgot he got married. And at least didn't know about Brandy before leaving. But really? Ash was just that drunk and that dumb? This is going to be their choice there? * The MUST TOP COLON SCENE aura of Ash nearly smushing his face into his own jizz. * I still don't know why Candy and Ash had to get Vegas-hitched, since their being married influences nothing. * Where is Linda B? Is she just going to be written off? * Brandy losing a finger to a Deadite phone feels almost too wink and nod.
It all comes down to prom. Yep, after introducing a false military junket and a mysterious Nec-copying cult wasn’t enough – the series introdues some new powers for the book and new po…
AvED Spoiler Reactions under the cut
OK, show, if you’re going to give me Ash Williams: sex toy emporium owner, at least give me Brandy and Ash having a cute familial relationship.
‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ First Look: Ash Is a Hometown Hero - tvinsider.com
When Ash vs Evil Dead rises for Season 3 on February 25, 2018, the slayer of the undead will have traded his gory ways for some glory days. Now a hometown hero, “Ash—like any shallow person—is determined to cash in on his fame,” says star Bruce Campbell, noting that his super-chinned alter ego “is revving up the crowd at the grand opening of Ashy Slashy’s Hardware (and Sex Toy) Emporium.” Also keeping him abuzz? He’ll reunite with his long-lost daughter, Brandy (Arielle Carver-O’Neill)—and pity the fool who comes between a chainsaw-wielding papa and his princess! Ash vs Evil Dead, Season 3, Feb. 25, 9/8c, Starz
NYCC: Ash vs. Evil Dead drops S3 premiere, promises family drama - syfy.com
Bruce Campbell has bills to pay, y'all. Campbell, the namesake behind Starz’s hit Ash vs Evil Dead, opened the series’ New York Comic-Con 2017 panel on Saturday by thanking fans for helping pay his kid’s tutition.
The audience was treated to a sneak peek of Season 3 along with the entire first episode. The show is slated to return Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 9PM ET/PT on Starz.
Our take: Without giving too much away, the Season 3 premiere is hilariously gruesome. Lucy Lawless (Xena) returns as Ruby, the Demon Mother of Fire, and she isn’t holding anything back. We also meet Ash’s daughter Brandy in the premiere and her mom Candy Barr. In typical Deadite fashion, Ash and his newfound fam are thrown into mayhem as he shows his daughter what his life entails, taking high school drama to a whole new level.
Actress Dana DeLorenzo (Kelly) returns to Ash vs. Evil Dead with some killer instincts and a friend, Dalton, played by Lindsay Farris. Arielle Carver-O'Neill also joins Season 3 as Ash’s daughter Brandy Barr. At the panel, Carver-O'Neill says the experience being a newcomer on the show is both “terrifying and awesome.” On parenthood, Campbell says Ash is the “best and the worst” as a father.“ He did reveal Ash never lies to his daughter and is very protective.
During the fan Q&A, DeLorenzo spills to the audience she and costar Ray Santiago had to share a shower one time after a scene, calling it a "murder scene” with all the fake blood.
At this point, the notion of Ash conceiving a child with a woman named ‘Candy Barr’ is the least of my problems with this.
