The race to 300 views
Thought I would preserve this moment, where two videos on my hobby youtube channel both had the same number of views and likes. Low Key excited because both these videos were uploaded at different times.
Hey Hey It's Saturday
Want to know how old I am, when I first moved to Australia I was 7 years old and the show Hey Hey It's Saturday was still a thing. I thought it was a cool sounding catch phrase, and I would go around yelling it every morning for the first week or two. Then, one day I woke my Dad up yelling in an excited voice "Hey Hey it's Saturday" to which he grumpily replies "No, its not".

A lot of people did this in our neighbourhood 😂
Cringe Animation
Going through one of my old youtube accounts and found this masterpiece animated with Flash 2.0 circa 2011. I learnt flash in 2004 and I just stuck with it and I would teach my students to make mock interface designs with flash, and they hated it and would use Adobe Premiere instead.
ASMR Motorcycle Traffic
ASMR Traffic Noises
Experimental Audio & Video Project inspired by ASMR videos - When I first moved to Vietnam the noise from the constant traffic made it hard
Living in Vietnam traffic became a constant background noise, after a while, I got used to it, then when I moved back to the quiet suburban streets of Sydney I found it very hard to sleep without the noise.

My daughter as her most recent obsession, a Mermaid
My daughter the muse
My daughter loves to sing and time to time I try to make a gif. Know that I am not that great at anatomy but I think these are cute.
Here’s yet another ~ExCLuSiVe~ comic from my book, which comes out on October 23rd! It’s over 100 pages of brand new comics! Get it at superchillbook.com!

Felt some inspiration from my daughter to do something creative.

So one day after having a rant about not really wanting to make Fake LEGO videos, here I am uploading a new Fake Lego Video. But basically It is just unused footage from my last video. Here I unbox and speed Build the Fake Lego LOL Surprise Doll.
Fake Lego
So the last two videos I created for my hobby channel revolved around Fake Lego. These videos have received a lot of traction compared to my other videos which were part of my original concept of Children's Stories. They have become popular because of people searching for Fake Lego.
It gives me mixed feelings but it also helps me understand viewers. The key thing I have picked up on is that my videos with topics that aren't as common are getting views compared to a video that has a common topic like the three little pigs. It's fun, but I don't want to be known as that Fake Lego Guy.
I haven't really found any Fake Toys that interest me lately or match my interests.
Hobby Projects give Fulfillment
For the last few weeks, I have been working on a small hobby project mostly because I wanted a creative outlet and also wanted to experiment with social media. So my project originally was to publish some prerecorded stories from when my daughter went on her first trip overseas with her Mum to play at bedtime. My voice is pretty much monotone and apparently sleep-inducing if you asked any of my students I taught graphic design to when I lived in Vietnam.
So for this, I spent the time to design cartoon characters in the same style as Hey Dugee which a children’s show on the BBC. After that I made some GIF animations and then discovered near my work they sell fake toys, So I made a few videos about fake toys just for fun with very low expectations.
So far this project has given me a lot of fulfillment and challenges. My projects twitter has been receiving a lot of impressions but my actual engagements are very low, so I have been studying analytics to see which posts do well and those that don’t do well.
Most of my impressions come from Polls or sharing youtube clips from my favourite kid-friendly youtube channels. My content on the other had has been doing quiet poorly which is sad but it pushes me to think of other ways to generate interest.Â
In the past, I found that the harder I worked on a project the lower my overall fulfilment was because my expectations weren’t met and I was easy to give up because it wasn’t fun or I was too concerned about being successful.
