it's so funny cause when I first played ch 2 when it came out, I thought spamton was annoying (read: taking away from queen screentime and Noelle screentime) and I kinda completely missed his storyline 😭 and so when I found out I missed it I tuned in ofc and went "oh..... interesting!" And then continued to not get super invested in him as a character cause I could smell the winds the fandom was gonna blow in and it would just be better if I stayed away from the nonsense 😭 but when ch 3 and 4 got finally close to release I got reinvested and discovered wow ok his storyline really does have a very poignant and thematic kick to it huh 😭 it really hit for me the third time, and then ch 3 came out and said "btw he was in a tragically doomed situationship with the hot tv guy" and then ch 4 said "oh that tv guy is also biblically doomed" and then the pieces just sort of really cemented into place and now spamton is like one of the best characters toby fox has ever written....

he just gets more and more interesting the more I think about him. I'm a firm gaster benefactor believer btw, I think gaster was probably really fascinated with the discovery that this darkner had so much determination to rewrite his own fate, and so gaster fed into that to see how far spamton would go. and then game dev gaster found out about the spamtenna situationship and went "oh the soul's gonna love that let's make them get divorced and irreconcilable with each other they'll eat that Up"

gaster is very neutral aligned to me I don't think he is actively villainous but his actions do have very villainous and negative consequences.

Something about the bastardization of the story time and time again proves that nobody in power really cares about the people who would resonate with King’s Carrie White. A girl so ugly and repulsive she’s been removed from her own story. The societal need for women and girls to be constantly perceived as attractive is what fuels a fair amount of her torment in the book, but that person isn’t even allowed to exist on the screen. We cannot empathize with her; it isn’t allowed. It’s fascinating to me.
