Yesterday at #pride I decided that I would make one of the biggest decisions of my life. Growing up as a woman I was made to believe that my hair is an extension of myself and of my femininity. That my hair is what makes me a beautiful woman. That my hair is what makes me a woman. For years I believed without my hair I would look boyish or not as pretty or that my ears are to big for my face. I decided to shed myself of all those insecurities and gender norms. I am still a beautiful person and my hair does not change any of that. In the process the person who shaved my head felt so empowered by my decision that they even gave me a free shirt that reads #nogenderrules and let me tell you it's my favorite shirt yet. I am #unnapolageticallyqueer #unnapolageticallybrown #unnapolageticallylatinx and what I chose to do with my body doesn't change that. In the words of the late #mayaangelou I am a #phenomenalwoman (at Portland Gay Pride Parade)
