Maintenance Update

Happy Wednesday, everyone! While we’re waiting for the engineers to do their thing with today’s maintenance and update, we wanted to touch base with you ahead of time about accessibility and today’s update.

If you’re someone who is sensitive to moving lights, images, or colors online or if you just don’t like them, you have the option to force a setting globally, called prefers-reduced-motion, through your operating system:

Windows 10: Start > Settings > Ease of Access > Display > Show Animations in Windows

MacOS: System Preferences > Accessibility > Display> Reduce Motion

iOS: Settings > Accessibility > Motion> Reduce Motion

Android: Settings > Accessibility > Remove Animations

While not all websites respect the prefers-reduced-motion flag (yet), the update we’re launching today does! What’s especially helpful when you use this setting is that today's update will respect your motion preferences even when you’re logged out!

If you’re sensitive to such animations, this down time is a good time to set your global preferences.

There will also be a toggle in your Account Settings that will allow players to completely turn off the feature if needed or desired. We’ll have more information about the level of individual control a player has with this feature for you when maintenance concludes.

thinking about imperials for too long makes me feel SICK if I was an imp living in a post-luminax society I would become the joker.

imagine your entire culture & lifestyle revolving around staying as far away from your brethren as possible so you don't accidentally become a Huge Multiheaded Zombie. imagine your own god hating/fearing you and referring to you as 'a mistake that must be rectified.' imagine feeling so alone in a world full of dragons that can comfortably coexist with entire clans of their kin. and then imagine Luminax showing up. I know the other breeds are weird about it I fucking know it. I know they finally understand why imperials prefer to stay away from each other and why they're so specific in the way they bury their dead. I know some of them have suddenly started avoiding their imperial clanmates and become acutely aware of just how many imperials are in their clan. I know some of them have become hostile and threatening. I know the amount of imperials who have suddenly been exiled from their clans for no apparent reason is greater than 0. I know some pearlcatchers are gloating about the whole thing.

I am going to gnaw my own arm off.

Fun facet of this: can you imagine the bad, off color jokes about it. Like not only everything above but stack on that the humor of your non imperial friend that's supposed to make you feel better but doesn't. Imagine the jokes that were never intended to make you feel better too.

Oh shit though if you are, like me, teaming up with a friend to “quickly” (torturously slowly) exchange all your research notes, DO NOT clear a plot until you have received as many notes as possible. So long as you don’t clear the plot, the notes will apply to undug squares and you can get one of everything rather than being subjected to the wretched rng of a cleared plot taking notes from plots you haven’t gotten yet. We did this last time and it was awesome and I’m sure people might know this but if you don’t!!! Don’t clear the plots until you’re done exchanging notes!!
