I just started The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides and even though I am only the first chapter in, I get it. It was recommended in a "oh you haven't read this yet?" It's amazing how I side stepped this novel for so long.

I'm also reading A Star is Bored by Byron Lane. It's a fictionalized account of his time as Carrie Fisher's assistant which truly is fitting. I loved Postcards From the Edge and I love that the fictionalization of Fisher's life is continuing even in her death.

Slow Days, Fast Company: The World, The Flesh, and L.A.

Honestly one of the best books I’ve read in awhile, the essays get lost on themselves but always find their way home. There’s something about how irreverent Babitz is when she writes. In an essay about gentrification she is able to navigate this comedic lightheartedness whilst acknowledging the evil that the community she’s visiting is founded on. 

If you like Southern California, Los Angeles, or Hollywood this is a good book to pick up!
