Ep. 54 - A Carnival Comes To Town
Okay, so when Cecil started talking about the trucks coming to town, I just couldn’t not think about Okay, so when Cecil started talking about the trucks coming to town, I just couldn’t not think about Hull Fair(as I imagine anyone who has a fair/carnival which comes to them did). Ours is due next month (the week before I get to see WTNV in London actually, exciting) and I can already imagine the smell which is so particularly associated with Hull Fair.
The voice mail with Carlos was so sweet, I love that his voice lights up when he talks about what he is learning, however it also has me SO worried, especially the phrase ‘most scientifically interesting community’…did anyone else gasp in shock because, no, no,no, don’t get distracted Carlos, go home! And now I’m torn about the fact that I want Carlos to learn EVERYTHING but I also don’t want him to be distracted from getting back to Cecil….fangirl problems….
Major fangirl squeeing about the fact that Old Woman Josie watches Castle….and that she’s such a bad ass. You go with your concrete pouring, angel befriending self!!!
When Cecil assumes that his excited state about the carnival must be them exerting a force to make him, my immediate reaction was ‘of course’, then, remembering lessons learned from TSM (mmmmm apology scones) I stepped back and wondered if Cecil is automatically suspicious of things that make him gleeful, especially as he can’t enjoy these things with Carlos, so his automatic belief is that, well, it must be a malevolent force! Then I start to wonder if I’ve started looking way to deeply into WTNV.
I love the idea of Pride and Prejudice causing riots! My favourite book!
Maureen, I forget she’s only a teenager, and that can’t have been fun to return after her second ‘death’, and I bet she would have enjoyed the carnival, and considering that she’s the one who did the research she probably thought it would be fun….maybe thats why she was sad at the end (or maybe angels are there…..whenever someone cries, or is sad, I assume angels…..see, looking WAY too deep).
The big question I’ve been left with from this episode is How did the carnival people enter and leave Night Vale? I know people have done it before ( The woman from Italy, Rita Hayworth etc), but now, with Carlos trying (ish) to make his was back, my mind is kinda trying to help (fictional problem….let’s devote all thought processes….real life issue….here’s a distraction. Story of my life!), and I feel like there was something there, but having listened three times now (hello distraction) I also think, one again…I may be over thinking this!
Guess it’s time to start thinking about the real issues….or seeing what others are thinking about this (oops slip on the search button….oh well)
