     Despite being thrown into a new world, or at least what she considers to be a new world when it’s really just a new place, Alyssa’s glad she’s able to continue dancing. It’s her life in someways, and it helps that she was able to land a job at the dance studio within the city. Managing her job between her classes and her own practice times was a lot for her to get used to, but she was dealing with it as best as she could.

     And it was a good thing! Being busy was good and kept her mind off of other things, plus it was also good to have experience. Alyssa knew she wouldn’t be able to dance forever, so being able to teach here was a good experience for her. She felt like she was doing what she could, considering how young she is to be instructing here, but at least the city let her do so. Take what you can get after all.

     She hears the bell ring out signalling that the door has opened and Alyssa heads to the front counter, only to see a girl a few years younger than her there. A smile grows on her face as she hears the other, there’s no way she can say no to her after all. “Oh, of course! After all that is what the studio is here for. Can I get your name so I know I can schedule you in for one?”

     Dawn’s smile seems to all but widen at the receptionist’s cheerful disposition. “It’s Dawn! Are you one of the instructors here, miss?” She asks politely, shifting her weight to rock to and fro on her heels. Excitement bubbled within her at the prospect of future lessons. Learning something new provided valuable life experiences. Plus it would keep her busy and out of the house - a win-win scenario!

     By the tone she used and the grin plastered onto her face, it was clear to the Champion that the older girl seemed to enjoy her job. That was always a good thing; her mom always said taking pride in your work was essential to living a fulfilling life. It was the same way Dawn felt about her career as a trainer! Internally Dawn hopes that she’ll end up being an instructor after all. This lady seemed kind; exactly the type of person she’d want to be teaching her!

     “Are there any lessons available for today? I’d love to get started right away! Everyone here makes dancing seem so fun!”

❀ a wild event starter appeared for @sheeporbeef​!!

     While exploring the underwater city was fine and dandy, actually gathering information about this place was - ultimately - the main objective. No better place to start than the library for basic information. Taking some inspiration from Cynthia, Dawn decided to start by looking into myths and legends surrounding Theorellia. Perhaps through them she could find some connection to the mysterious project.

     The Saturninity Codex was vast; flush with troves of knowledge just waiting to be discovered. It put the Canalave City library to shame, and that was certainly saying something. The only problem surrounding this was the trainer had no idea where to find anything. Nor an idea of where to start looking.

      Normally one to rush head first into the unknown, even she had to admit that would be a bad idea in this scenario. That would just get her horribly lost. So instead, Dawn approaches another patron of the library, giving them a soft clear of her throat to grasp their attention.

     “Excuse me,” she whispers, attempting to stay as quiet as possible whilst remaining audible. Respect for the atmosphere and all; this was a library. “Do you know where to find books on Theorellian legends and folklore?”

     “Uwaa, everything looks so tasty!”

     Eyes roam over the varieties of cupcakes and pastries lining the display shelves. Having roamed around the streets of Theorellia for a few hours prior, hunger had finally started to settle in. Currently Dawn was craving something sweet, so what better place to go than the Dough Re Mi bakery? No other place, really. The other bakery in the city was more bread based - a nice cake was more up her alley right now.

     Each sweet treat looked scrumptious. It was so hard to pick! Maybe this one? No, that one looked good too! Decisions, decisions

     “Gosh, I can’t just pick one! They all look so good!” Mulling it over by herself was proving fruitless. The store clerk was attending some other matters at the moment, so Dawn decides to do the next best thing. Shifting in her place, she turns to the person next to her and gives them a shy smile. “Can you help me out? Which one do you think looks the best?”

      Hidden underwater city??? Sign her the heck up! With Alexia’s help, Dawn is more than excited to go gallivanting off into the strange unknown city! Information gathering is important of course, but really all she’s down for is some good ol’ exploration! She’ll still be managing her resources carefully, however!

     Looking up at the sky, the trainer watches as the fireworks pop and explode in a barrage of color. Taking time to appreciate the beauty in the little events like this made life worth living. Alexia is sound asleep in her Poke Ball - the noise was a bit too much for her.

Get to know my Character Meme: Accepting!

( 🍀 Does your character carry a good luck charm? Do they believe in luck? )

She does, though she can’t remember the person she received it from. It’s a simple woven bracelet, worn delicately on her right wrist. Two charms dangle from it - a tiny sun and star, both handpicked by her childhood friend Barry. Supposedly it was a gift to celebrate the starts of their journey. ( He has a matching band, bearing a lightning bolt and moon charm. ) As for the question of believing in luck, she does to a certain extent. Dawn knows that most of her wins have come from her skills as a trainer, but certain scenarios lead her to wonder if she’d gotten a lucky break. Such as her clutch victory against the previous Sinnoh Champion. She isn’t one to rely on luck alone, but admits that at time it just… happens.

( 🌞🌜 Is your character an early bird or night owl? What makes them that way? )

Definitely a night owl. Long days of traveling the routes of Sinnoh messed with her sleeping schedule, and nowadays she can’t find herself rising early to save her life. By the end of the day she’d been so exhausted from walking. Half the time she’d barely set up her camp before passing out! Luckily her six teammates are always there for their trainer, and would take over and watch out for her as she slept. Alexia, Faolan and Fozzy in particular had a habit of cuddling up with Dawn as she slept, making sure to keep her warm. This does come with drawbacks though, and now Dawn has trouble falling asleep before midnight in most cases. Ah, such is life.

It’s not a holiday worth any note, but Dawn really loves April Fool’s Day. She’s always liked it since she was a kid, when the neighbor kids would go around playing harmless pranks on one another. It brought laughter and smiles to everyone’s faces. Besides, when you’re a little kid the possibilities are limitless when it comes to pranks and jokes. One time she soaked an egg in vinegar for a week and made it all rubbery and then tried to make someone eat it. ( That someone was Barry but haha. Yikes. )

Apparent permanent lodging in a new world is practically unheard of for Sora; he is, after all, a constant traveler—a wanderer at heart and out of necessity at this point. He’s used to brief and fleeting stays that barely span weeks at the most, maybe longer depending on travel time and what needs to be done, but rarely so.

It’s strange to be given an actual place to stay and a roommate no less, though the latter part isn’t something he’s too worried about. It’s in his nature to make friends wherever he goes, after all. Too set a small place for himself inside the hearts of those he interacts with. Though that also depends on initial reception and first meetings, Sora has never been one to quickly to lose hope quickly—optimistic in every venture as he is.  

Luckily, he doesn’t have to think about it for too long. initial sound of the door opening and closing wasn’t heard, not over his own rapid-fire thoughts, but the appearance of someone and the introduction sure does.

Sora is quick to jump to his feet, excited hop to his steps as he closes the distance. Two roommates apparently. A girl and her companion? A giant penguin is all his mind is able to supply, though features are a bit too unique for just that.

“Nice to meet you both!” his excitement is genuine; words followed by a crooked grin. “My name’s Sora! I’ve never really had a roommate before.” Unless he considers countless sleepovers and nights spent on the gummiship, but perhaps not. “This is actually kind of exciting!”

     Hands clap in delight as she speaks, “Sora? That’s a wonderful name!” Her bubbly disposition seems to brighten the second he speaks. Excitement seems to radiate from his body, seeping into her being and elevating her even higher. It seemed there really was nothing to worry about! Even Alexia seems to take a shine to him, cooing softly when he greets himself.

     “Really? Neither have I!” The statement is only somewhat true, and the disgruntled chirp from the Pokemon gives her pause. “Heh, right, sorry Alexia. I haven’t really had a human roommate,” she admits, voice tinted with a nervous chuckle. Plenty of nights spent in the company of her companions, yes, she’s had those. Her soul twinged with sadness at the memories - Dawn could only hope the rest of her team were okay...

     Momentarily she glances around the living space, still marveling at the slight magic of it all. The circumstances would usually cause one to be discouraged; being forcefully separated from one’s friends and family. However for Dawn, it seemed more like the first steps on a new adventure. Things would be alright... At least she hoped.

     “Did you already pick a room out?” She questions, giving him a slight tilt of her head. It was his right considering he had arrived in their shared abode first. The Empoleon, having moved from her prior location in the kitchen, wanders about for a bit in curiosity. The Trainer watches her partner thoughtfully, letting out a brief cadence of laughter. “Silly Empoleon. I wonder what she’s looking for?”

     though the obstagoon is shorter, that doesn’t stop him from puffing out his chest to try and look as big as possible. piers can’t help but breathe out a light chuckle as he watches his pokemon try to win a silent-showdown. he raises a hand to the obstagoon’s neck, giving it some reassuring pats. “c’mon, mate.” and with that, obstagoon calms down much more than before, as if giving up the showdown. 

     when he speaks to the trainer, it does seem like she’s spaced out for a moment… piers doesn’t mind this at all however, and waits patiently for her to ground herself. 

    “that’s a relief.” he scratches at the side of his head. “obstagoon means well, but a lotta people think he looks scary.” he gives dawn a nod. “yeah. obstagoon’s the name of the pokemon, i had this guy since he was a little zigzagoon…” with that, piers’ pokemon smiles brighter, nodding his head along with! 

     piers can’t help but smile wider, and obstagoon lowers his head more as if he was answering dawn’s question as well. “he doesn’t look like it, but obstagoon’s a real cuddlebug. good luck gettin’ all that fur outta your jacket, though.” if dawn were to look close enough, she would see that piers’ pants have hints of fur stuck in them. “say…“ piers raises an eyebrow at the trainer, tilting his head to the side. “i’m sure i’ve seen you somewhere before, yeah? you aren’t from galar, are you?“ 

     As the Obstagoon calms down Alexia lets out a prideful chirp, as if insinuating her victory. The action does little to surprise her trainer; with the Empoleon’s hardy nature such things were commonplace to witness. The natural pride of an Empoleon did little to help matters. Gentle pats to her wing are enough to make the Pokemon docile, and she gives Dawn a soft coo. There we go, much better.

     “Heh, sorry about this one,” she murmurs, giving her partner another soft pat. “Pride gets the better of her sometimes, but Alexia has a heart of gold.” Nodding her head in agreement, Dawn’s partner pats her chest with a wing - a trait she’s had since her early days as a Piplup. “She was my first Pokemon ever, so she can get pretty protective.”

     It baffles her a bit that anyone would think the Obstagoon to be scary looking. Then again, she’s crossed paths with (and captured) ancient Pokemon revered as gods. Compared to them, anything might as well be like a puppy. “He’s so cute though! How could anyone be scared of this face?” Her grin grows five times brighter as the Blocking Pokemon lowers his head, which is swiftly bombarded with scritches and delicate strokes. Utmost care is put into each motion; the last thing she wants to do is hurt her new friend!

     Piers’ question causes a slight pause in her doting. Galar? Was that a region of some kind? Certainly not one she’s heard of, and the mention of it alone causes her curiosity to rise. Before she asks any questions of her own, it’s best to answer his first. “Nope, I’m from the Sinnoh region. My name’s Dawn if you were wondering!” The fact he recognizes her in some capacity does little to surprise her. She is the official Champion after all. “I’ve never heard of Galar though! Is it a newly discovered region?”

     obstagoon looks at alexia and snorts- its eyes are narrowed, but its tongue still lulls out of its mouth. the empoleon is on edge, so obstagoon won’t back down, but doesn’t show any signs of wanting to attack. it looks noticeably more tame when dawn looks to it, its eyes no longer narrowed, and it looks as if it’s grinning. on the inside, obstagoon is just one big dog. 

     meanwhile, piers was scratching at his head as he glanced around the streets- it was important to make sure he got exercise with his pokemon, but obstagoon had a habit of running ahead. it’s all that pent-up energy! 

     he sees his partner pokemon and then sees that it’s with… a trainer? not someone he recognizes right away, but he jogs up to them regardless. “oi… “ he scratches at the back of his head, looking between the two of them. he spares alexia a quick glance and a soft smile. “obstagoon ain’t botherin’ you, right? it only knows how to get into trouble…“ with that, piers brings his hand up to the pokemon’s neck, giving it well-deserved scratches.  

     Feeling like her pride is on the line, the Empoleon puffs out her chest and stands as tall as she can. It isn’t much considering she’s only 5′ 7″, but she’s got a whole four inches on Obstagoon height wise. Of course Alexia would attempt to make the most of it. The Pokemon notices the rather docile way it regards her trainer however, so she won’t make a move to start a fight. She trusts Dawn.

     When the strange Pokemon’s trainer arrives it takes a moment for the Champion to register his voice. Lost in her own thoughts again! Blinking owlishly, his question goes unanswered for a moment. Until her lips curve upwards in a smile.

     “No, he isn’t bothering us at all! Quite the opposite actually,” she beams, folding her hands behind her back. “So his name is Obstagoon? Is that a nickname or the species name?” Holding back the flood of questions is near impossible, but she tries to limit herself. There is one thing she has to know, though...

     “...Can I pet him?”
