It was strange training all over again. She’d been training as long as she could remember. She’d even been an idol in Japan, before graduating from her group. It wasn’t unpleasant–she loved learning and she was excited to perfect her Korean and debut in a new place. But it was still strange. If you’d asked ten year old Nori where she thought she’d be in four years, this probably wouldn’t be her first answer. Or even in her top ten answers. A wide smile appeared on the little girls face upon hearing her native tongue, and she quickly swapped over to the far more familiar language. “Not yet–I got started a little late so my practice ran long!”
She could spot the visible relief on the girl’s face when she was able to shift into Japanese, and for the first time in months, she mentally thanked those lessons she had taken on the language. It had been a request on her part after taking a few photo shoots in Japan a while back, but it wasn’t a skill that she needed unless visiting said country. She offered the younger a soft smile, nodding her head as she translated the words in her mind. She spoke slower when trying to pronounce the foreign syllables, but wanted Nori to be as comfortable as possible. “Ah, then I can treat you to some lunch at the cafe. I was already on my way there. Would that be alright?”
Learning a new language was tough, and while Nori was learning quickly, she still often felt quite overwhelmed–people talked so fast and it was so hard trying to keep up. People got excited–she was sure they couldn’t help it. And now was one of those times. Awkwardly, Nori smiled, nodding a little and taking a deep breath before muttering in broken Korean, “Um…..could you please repeat that?”
The ultimate senior, Yewon always found herself doting on the younger members of the company, specifically the trainees. After joining the company at only nine years old, she felt even more of a connection toward the especially young ones. She wanted them to have someone to look up to, as well as someone who would encourage them. And right now, she found herself with the urge to look after one of the youngest, Nori. “I wanted to know if you’ve eaten yet,” she repeated her words before switching into the other’s first language, “did you have lunch?” Thank god she had a pretty big following in Japan; she wasn’t completely fluent, but she was close enough to it.
how could Sumi express what she was feeling at that moment. she was trying so hard to memorize her line but she just couldn’t understand why she was having so much trouble, since it wasn’t even her first role. after a few more tries, Sumi decided to give up and check if someone was around to see if she was doing okay with her other lines - and in that exact moment someone appeared (sumi almost screamed hallelujah). “hey, do you think you can help me with this.. please?”, the girl asked while pointing to some papers in her hands
Yewon didn't know how she could have possibly survived without coffee. Her feet were dragging as she walked, physically exhausted from her constant practicing. She felt like a zombie, her body wondering the halls without much control. But she couldn't let anyone else see that; they would make her rest. So instead, she just put on a sweet smile, blinking in surprise as someone caught her attention. Maybe she just needed a quick distraction to get back her energy. "I can try. What do you need, sweetie?"
She was glad it was Yewon who was there. If there was someone that could cheer Yumin up easily, it was Yewon and her bright smile. So she grinned at her, half laughing as she picked up her phone and stood up, dusting herself off. “Oh my gosh, that was so unexpected,” she laughed. “I’m okay though, probably will bruise later but I’m already used to that. It would have been super embarrassing if there was someone else here instead of you though!” She looked down at her screen and gasped a little at the sight of a medium sized crack on one side. “Yeah, this day is officially not going well.” She pouted and tucked the cell phone in her back pocket of her jean skirt. “I woke you up didn’t I.”
Yewon didn’t want to laugh at her friend, but couldn’t really help it. Her clumsiness was too cute, even if it sounded like it hurt. “Yeah, usually falling down is unexpected,” she teased from her spot on the couch, giggling through her words. “At least you aren’t hurt too badly. Then I would have to take time off to nurse you back to health.” She followed the other’s gaze down to the phone, “See, this is why you need a better case. I could drop mine off of a building and it would be fine.” Holding back a yawn, she instinctively reached out for the elder to join her, “No. I was just, you know, resting my eyes.”
Sara sighed, falling limply into the chair behind her. She’d been up all day and the lack of sleep was really starting to show. “Who decided that getting up to rehearse at five o’clock in the morning was a good idea?” Sunglasses pushing her hair back, she pulled her phone out to check if her makeup was covering the dark circles under her eyes at least a little. “Seriously, I wanna know, because whoever it was lied. They’re a liar and I want to have a word with them.”
Personally, Yewon had never been bothered by early morning practices. If she was already going to be awake at such an hour, she might as well be doing something productive with her time. But she was also well aware that most (if not all) idols felt differently. She could tell with just a glance how tired the elder was, immediately taking her role as Haven’s happy vitamin by throwing an arm around Sara’s shoulder. With a tight squeeze, she did her best to transfer some form of energy to her friend, “Cheer up, unnie! It’ll pay off in the end. A few early morning rehearsals can easily be made up for with one great stage performance.”
Yumin was sauntering down a corridor as she was looking down at her phone, playing an app game. She was so distracted that she didn’t even didn’t look up as she rounded the corner and tripped over a hallway table. “Oh my gosh! You did not see that did you?” She said to the other person that happened to be there at the moment.
The sound of a sudden stumble pulled Yewon out of her impromptu nap, snapping up and immediately letting out a laugh that made her seem much more awake. Falling asleep had to be one of the worst feelings in the world, just knowing that your mind was drifting and you were too exhausted to even keep your eyes open. But with her current promotions, spending each night on a different stage, she was having a difficult time staying as awake as she usually would. Ignoring the voice in the back of her head telling her to fall back asleep, she grinned at Yumin, “Ah, babe, don’t worry, I didn’t see anything. Are you okay, though? That sounded painful.”

It was Freya’s first comeback stage in a long time–second comeback stage ever, but wow, did it ever go well. Freya was confident that Ivory would be a hit after that stage; not only did they nail it, but the audience seemed to love it too. And from what she could see, with Tae texting her updates every few minutes, the public reaction to 4 Walls was pretty good. Freya was proud; of herself and her new group. Handing a water bottle to her new leader, the younger girl flashed Yewon a grin. “Great job, unni! You were great!”
If there was anything that felt like second nature to Yewon, it had to be performing on stage. Seven years after her initial debut, she was finally able to grace the stage as a group leader, and although it was a completely new experience, she had no doubt on her mind that they would do well. She had faith in the other girls; having worked so closely with Yuhye for years and knowing just how difficult it was to be a soloist, she was positive that they would put their all into the comeback stage. And as she made her way backstage, adrenaline running high, she couldn’t bite back her beaming grin, “Freya! You did such a wonderful job! I’m so proud of you!” She took the water bottle with a bow of her head, sitting down next to the rapper and wrapping an arm around her, “I couldn’t be happier with our performance. Everything went so well!”
“Oh no, don’t be. It was really cool to get that sort of move, you know? Take comfort in the fact that she’ll probably never hate you nearly as much as I think she hates Jonghyun. She totally didn’t talk to me again until like, last week,” Rian replied, laughter following. Any chance she got to step out of the cute image she had under Haven she’d gladly take, though she knew it would take a while for her family or even her fans to get used to it. The overreactions made it entirely worth it, for her anyway. “How am I supposed to know that? You sound like you have it all planned out and you’re just waiting on the chance that I slip up and cook your dinner wrong or something to put it into action,” she whined, gripping Yewon’s hands tightly as she continued her overexaggerations. “Maybe isn’t good enough. But I guess I’ll take that anyway,” she grumbled, knowing it was a fight she couldn’t win, no matter how hard she tried. The pessimist in her was sure that Haven would still be in their limbo state by then, but she didn’t want to hold on to that negative thought and have it come back to bite her in the ass once she overfilled her plate. “You’re so gross, stop it. What am I gonna do with you?”
“It was cool, you’re right,” Yewon beamed, taking the comment as a compliment on her choreography. She quirked an eyebrow at the mention of the UNION member, a knowing smirk gracing her features. Out of six of his solo music videos, Rian had starred in at least half of them, always acting as the female lead. Some of them were pretty tame, but one of his more recent videos had a much more mature feel than the others. “What, for Bonnie & Clyde? You looked hot in that video! Our sexy maknae,” for added effect, the elder made sure the wiggle her eyebrows in a suggestive manner. “How could you think that of me? I would never hurt my baby! I love you too much!” A pout on lips, she was sure that if one of their other members walked in, it would result in an irritated eye roll. Separately, the two girls were just fine, but together, well, they could be quite the annoying pair. Now was just one of the many examples of that, clinging to each other and whining about a situation that would never come true, confessing their love for each other for absolutely no reason. She took the vocalist’s answer as an out, quickly ditching the subject of taking a break. As much as she understood where her best friend was coming from, they both knew it wasn’t in her nature to take time off. “Love me forever, preferably.”

Rian scrunched her face up into a childish pout. She wasn’t jealous nor did she hold any resentment, if anything it was frustration towards whoever was producing their music at the time. Being able to act and spend time overseas was an opportunity she was grateful for, but she wouldn’t have minded being on stage with her group members a little more often, either. How were they supposed to stay a top-tier group if they only promoted once a year? “I think my family would’ve had a heart attack if I was in a group like Spades. Like, my grandmother didn’t talk to me for almost a week after she saw that split I did in You Think.” She couldn’t help but laugh at the thought. Despite how grown up she always wanted to feel, she knew she’d always be someone’s little baby, whether it was her family’s or just Yewon’s. “You have it way too thought out for me to feel comfortable sleeping at night,” Rian retorted, swiping her hand away to playfully deny Yewon’s winking at her. “Yeah, that’s without argument. Which you really should work on– it’s not a bad thing to rest sometimes. We all have to do it.” Part of her had a feeling that she’d be more successful talking to a brick wall, but that wouldn’t stop her from saying what was on her mind. It never did, anyway. “Yeah, you’re right about that. But I love you and your non-acting ways, and that’s all that matters in the end.“
At the younger’s confession about her grandmother, Yewon fell into a familiar fit of giggles. Technically, that one was her fault. She knew all about Rian’s flexability (how many times had the pair shoved her into a suitcase for laughs?), and as the choreographer, she had taken full advantage of that knowledge. Plus, it looked great. “Sorry about that one. But I think that split got you quite a few extra fans, so maybe it was worth it.” Putting on a pout, she leaned across the table, grabbing hold of her best friend’s hands, “You can’t leave me! We’ve been roommates since we were trainees. Even if I do have a great plan to kill you, you know I could never go through it with.” She knew that the mini-lecture was coming, but still let out a huff when it arrived. She knew her limits (mostly), and she could stop working when she wanted to (probably). It was enough to receive talks about it from her manager, but when Rian stepped in as well, it brought out a sense of guilt. She didn’t like thinking about the fact that the younger worried about her. “Well, maybe I’ll get some rest after Ivory’s promotions. Emphasis on maybe, because I’m hoping I’ll have something to choreograph for us by then, but if not, then I’ll be left to sit around and do nothing. That’ll make you happy, right?” Another laugh passed her lips, a soft smile spreading to replace her pout from before, “Yeah, if you continue to love me, then I don’t need anything else in the world.” Despite how serious her words were, she threw in a greasy wink to lighten them.
Haven had a system. After seven years together, that was understandable–it made sense that all the girls would be used to each other and how they all worked by now, and would be able to adapt accordingly. And really, Ginny wouldn’t want to live with anyone else. They were all sisters by this point. Better than sisters. Many of them had shitty families, and these girls made up for that. They were real family. Ginny had never been one to get sentimental or mushy, but she genuinely believed that. Haven was her family. “You know the answer to that,” Ginny replied with a little roll of her eyes, trying to bite back a smile. “Exactly. Plus, I’m comfy. It’ll be nice. It’s a date, then–my next cheat day is yours too.” Ginny raised an eyebrow, shaking her head. “It’s going to come from my brain. My heart has long since frozen over by this point. Wouldn’t want to be too mean in my speech.”
The sight of Ginny trying her best not to smile only brightened Yewon’s, the warmth of her happiness bubbling from the pit of her stomach. The elder had been through so much in her lifetime; it was no wonder why she could come off as a complete grump most of the time. The dancer was certain that she wouldn’t have been as strong as the other if she was ever thrown into a similar situation, and that just made her all the more proud of her friend. She resisted the strong urge to throw her arms around Ginny’s neck, to pull her into a tight squeeze and express just how cheerful she felt in that moment. “Just don’t tell Rian about it, okay?” She spoke in a hushed tone, grin as wide as ever, “She’ll probably get jealous that I’m cuddling with you instead.” Nodding her head enthusiastically, she silently hoped that the cheat day would be soon. Not only because she (secretly) really did need a break, but also because of the promise that she would be able to hang out with Ginny again. “Deal! We can even pick up some snacks at the store for it. We can cuddle and watch movies or something.” Reaching across the table, she gave Ginny a gentle poke in the shoulder, “Don’t be silly. There’s still a heart in there somewhere, it’s just a little buried right now.”
“Please don’t say that, oh my god. I think I’m going to just up and pass out if we get any more songs that sound like they should be going to Gossip. I’ll go on strike! If I can’t be happy, no one’s going to be happy.” Rian responded, gently slamming her hand on the table to emphasize her point. Of course, all her protests were just going unheard by the people who had the most control over it, but that wasn’t going to stop her from whining and complaining along the way. “You mean if you suddenly killed your best friend. Smothered her to death with a pillow without an ounce of guilt in your charred, black soul,” she corrected, voice flat. “Trust me, I bring it up like, all the time. Right? I swear she’s like, the real life Superwoman or something. But honestly, I think you’ve got her beat when it comes to work ethic.” After all, she never had to worry about whether her mother was eating right or putting her work before her health, but with Yewon, she often had to check up on her, even while away, just to make sure that she wasn’t working herself to the bone like she was prone to. Rian’s habits were cut from that same cloth, which was probably why the pair got along so well since the beginning. “Yeah, yeah– if you weren’t so bad at it, I’d probably think you were lying right now.”
“Have you heard Gossip’s comeback song yet? It’s a ballad! They have a ballad and we have ‘PARTY’!” The main dancer threw her hands in the air to express her exasperation, a groan following after her words. When was the last time they had a ballad? God, at this point, she couldn’t even remember. “I swear, they’re trying to torture us or something. We should have been in Spades. At least they have, like, sexy concepts. Ginny’s almost thirty and we’re still stuck with cutesy songs.” Usually, Yewon wasn’t one to complain. She worked hard for what she had, and she was always sure not to take anything for granted. But when she was with Rian, she knew that she could unload on the girl. More often than not, her best friend was even agreeing with her. “Oh, come on. Don’t act like I’m some kind of murderer. I haven’t even committed the crime yet,” she flashed the younger a bright grin, winking for good measure. “I would argue that she probably has a much healthier work ethic though. I mean, I’m hardworking, but at least she can say that she’s never been hospitalized for exhaustion, right?” She was sure to tack on a light laugh, as if to say that she didn’t want to go more in depth on the subject, but rather just wanted to use the topic as a joke. “See? I can’t lie, I can’t act... If I didn’t have dancing and my pretty face, I would be screwed, huh?”
It’s normal for Gunhee to run into idols. Whether it be actually running into them or passing them by in the hallways, he’d respectfully say hello or apologize and be on his way. Today was different though. During dance training he caught a glimpse of none other than his favorite idol, Song Yewon. Her beauty completely entranced him while her image of being haven’s ray of sunshine melted his sarcastic heart. Gun couldn’t miss this opportunity to introduce himself to her, I mean, she was his ultimate bias after all and he didn’t have the patience to wait another few months just to say hello. As the teacher was busy with another trainee he saw the chance to sneak out, and so he did. Once he made it out of the room unnoticed he jogged towards the direction he saw Yewon go, calling out to her. “Noona!”
Yewon felt as though she was the walking dead. She had slept for a total of four hours in the last two days, pushing herself to her limits in preparation for her subunit’s debut. There had been photo-shoots, costume fittings, hair appointments, style consultations, and of course, enough practicing to drive an idol insane. But she loved every second of it. If it were up to her, she would make sure that her schedule was always this packed, filled to the point that she hardly even had the time to sleep. She was certain that everyone else would find those wishes to be utterly ridiculous, but that was how she functioned, what she thrived on. If she didn’t have something to do, she might as well not be living.
Lifting her vanilla latte to her lips, she almost choked at the sound of a voice shouting in her direction, footsteps quickly catching up with her. Spinning around, she put on one of her usual smiles, bright as can be despite the bags underneath her eyes, “Oh, hello!” It took a moment to place his face, but she was able to recognize him as one of the newer trainees. If she hadn’t been so busy with Ivory lately, she was sure that she would have introduced herself to him already, “You’re a trainee, right? I’m really sorry, I can’t seem to remember your name...”
