So this happened yesterday! 😳😳😳😳 Had what I thought was a weird period about a week ago and it lasted for maybe 2 days and then for 7 days straight I was spotting. Didn’t really think much about it because since I got my mirena out my periods have been short and weird. But yesterday I just sorta felt funky and decided to say fuck it and buy a pregnancy test and took it legit thinking I was throwing away money….but then it said I was pregnant! Shocked the shit out of me! Ran to the store to buy the digital test just to be sure and low and behold it positive! To say I’m thrilled is a damn understatement but mildly freaking out now! Me and the hubs are over the moon!!!!

I’m thinking it’s time...

Why am I thinking and not knowing for real? Well I have never had a normal cycle. Between the time when I first got my period at the age of 10 and when I went onto the birth control patch at 17, I had maybe a total of 12 periods. When I was 19 years old I got the Mirena IUD because I have a history of blood clots and have had 2 of those and so for a total of 10 years I didn’t have a period at all. I had the IUD removed back in May of 2017 and my periods are trying to get their act together and be more regular, but they are still a little all over the place. My cycles have ranged from 35-65 days. The last couple months they have become closer to about 35ish days long. So I have the Kindara app to track all my cycles and it predicts that my most fertile time will be next weekend, but I took a dip ovulation test and it doesn’t know I have the spike of LH, but the test line is looking pretty close to how dark the test line needs to be to show a spike, so I actually this is the start of the 5 day window period. Wish me luck guys!

Making the decision...

It wasn’t an easy process for both my husband and I of being on the same page of agreeing to finally start making a family. I’m still in school for the next 6 months before I’ll graduate with a bachelors degree. Back in sept 2017 we had started thinking out loud about potentially to start trying since if I ended up getting pregnant right away, the baby would be born just after I would be graduating in May 2018, but we both agreed that we should wait a little longer and see how my last semester at school would pan out. About a month ago we had a pregnancy scare where I started showing some symptoms and we were sorta just waiting for my period to come to confirm or deny the fact that I was or was not pregnant. It came about a week late, but in the interim we were sort of preparing ourselves that I might actually be preggers. So once my period came and went I started thinking that I wished I would have been pregnant. The talk came and we decided that we were ready to really start trying to get pregnant. I had started tracking the last 2 months because my cycle is far from regular and I wanted to see what my body’s “normal” is. So we hope that this month we’ll get pregnant, but if not, we got all the time in the world. We aren’t going to stress if it doesn’t happen easily since I am still in school. So we shall see what happens!

Beginning into MOMhood

   It’s weird to put myself out there with something as personal as talking about my adventures into becoming a mom, but I’m anxious about all of this and I’m using this in order to have a place where I can put myself out there and vent. Potentially vent about the struggles of getting pregnant, all the morning sickness, and when the hormones go crazy and I can’t remember why I thought getting pregnant was a good idea in the first place. But this is also here when I finally do get pregnant and I’m over the moon, or we when we start putting the nursery together, and when our little amazing gift of life gets here I can share that with the world!

    So I guess I should say something about myself. I’m 30 years old. I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska and then moved in high school to the San Francisco Bay Area. I LOVE to read…if I have any free time you can find me with a nose in a book. Preferably this book is urban fantasy, romance, paranormal romance, and erotica. I love watching hockey, and when I moved to the Bay Area I became a forever San Jose Sharks fan. I’m 6 months away from obtaining a bachelors degree in Biology where I plan on getting my teaching credential in a couple years and teach middle and high school Biology. Though in the meantime, I plan on becoming a substitute teacher and start this family that my husband and I want so badly.

    My husband and I have been together for the past 10 and half years and we’ve been married for 2 and a half years of that. We’ve always talked about starting a family. It was always this far off thing that we thought about, something that we looked forward to starting, but now that far off time is now and it’s exciting, scary, frightening, and exhilarating all at once. So I guess that’s why I’m starting this blog, to hopefully reach those who are about to start trying and feeling this way, or those who have been there and done that and have the battle scars of this thing called motherhood and can lend an ear and a hand to help me through this crazy adventure into MOMhood!
