Internet sensation Grumpy Cat threw (well, kind of) the first pitch before the Arizona Diamondbacks' game against the San Francisco Giants. The team did a great job of sharing the event on social media, using everything from GIFs to memes. Grumpy Cat even posed with some players before the game.
Emoji Campaigns

The Chicago White Sox recently ran two emoji campaigns on Twitter, one where fans shared photos of themselves mimicking an emoji and one where fans guessed the players hidden by emojis. Both campaigns are great examples of ways emojis can be incorporated into Twitter campaigns to highlight players and engage fans.
To help promote the upcoming Scooter Gennett Gnome giveaway, the Milwaukee Brewers held a #ScooterGnome Hunt around Milwaukee. Gnomes were hidden at various locations around city, and fans who found them were instructed to visit the ballpark for tickets to the Scooter Gnome All-Fan Giveaway Day. At the last location, Scooter showed up (dressed like his gnome, of course) to surprise fans.
The Kansas City Royals ran a Johnny Cueto-inspired Snapchat contest earlier this week. Fans were encouraged to follow 'royals' on Snapchat, then draw a picture with Cueto's dreadlocks and tweet out the picture. Fans went all out, drawing dreadlocks on everything from pets to babies.

Many love emojis, but few love them as much as the Colorado Rockies. On Tuesday, the Rockies decided to forego all written language on Twitter in lieu of emojis, GIFs, images, video and Vines. The result was a collection of engaging tweets telling the story of a 10-5 win in which the Rox slugged five home runs. SportsCenter even used the tweets as part of their highlight segment following the game.

The Indians are taking Twitter scavenger hunts to a new level by using Periscope to reveal the locations today.
#HurdleGnome
The Pittsburgh Pirates ran a four-part scavenger hunt for the release of the Clint Hurdle gnome. The campaign consisted of a scavenger hunt around Pittsburgh, a scavenger hunt around the team's website where fans had to find photos of the gnome on different pages, a scavenger hunt in the ballpark and a Snapchat contest where fans were encouraged to draw a photo of themselves as gnomes.
A Birthday GIF
This week, the Oakland A's rolled out their first batch of "Birthday GIFs" for fans allowing themto save the GIFs of their choosing to their device and share them via text, tweet, email or otherwise.
Baseball’s first social media suite has a new look and some new features as Indians introduced #TribeLive this week. One notable highlight, select fans who participate will have their tweets RT’ed by @Indians during the game.
