On 20th April, 1912 was opened this historic stadium to its fans. Several baseball legends have made their mark here. It includes Jimmy Collins, Cy Young and Babe Ruth. This place is also considered to be Boston Red Sox’s second home. Boston Pilgrims in 1901 had played ball for the first time at Huntington Grounds. Now, Northeastern University campus owns this place. A fire gutted along left line on the bleachers on 8th May, 1926. Tours are operated everyday between 9am and 4pm until three hours before a game against a small charge.
This old, historic stadium is home to ‘Winningest baseball team’. However, after 2008 season, it got torn down. Just opposite to this place is constructed the new stadium costing around $1.3 million. Old one was used first for game vs. Boston Red Sox on 18th April, 1923. This venue also hosted other popular sporting events like football and boxing. 22nd June, 1938 saw a heavyweight title bout take place between Germany’s Max Schmeling and Joe Louis. Old venue was also used for pep talk ‘Win one for Gipper’ hosted by Knute Rockney.
It is also referred to as ‘Chavez Ravine’ constructed on a hill, spread over 300 acres, overlooking Los Angeles City. Its construction cost around $300 and was opened to the public in 1962. It is also called classical pitcher’ park! Initially, no drinking fountains were present. Every off-season, it was repainted. Beyond the fence, there are palm trees down foul lines. It is claimed to be MLB’s cleanest stadium.
Constructed in 1914, it is referred to as ‘Friendly Confines’. It is also considered to be the 2nd oldest stadium. Originally, it was called ‘Weeghman Park’ constructed on the grounds where once a seminary had occupied it. With a seating capacity of about 41,160, it features vines planted originally in 1937.
