Mini Tutorial: Drawing Blush
This is just a quick example of how I draw blushes! I like to use a base layer, and darker layer, so that I can check for halo-ing around the edges, and have a reference for color swatches.
I correct halo-ing- the pixel-y, blurry mess that usually shows up more prominently on darker tones )- by erasing around the edges with a noise brush. Any skin textured brush will work as well! Adding texture helps minimize the appearance of the weird halo thing.
For color swatches, I prefer to use curves to deepen the color. I usually work in 3’s- light, medium, and dark.
If your blush is monotone, you can easily change the colors in PS by playing with layer styles.
Adjust opacity for best results! Include 2 or so opacities if desired.
If pixelation occurs in game, you can change the composition method to 4. This WILL change the colors a bit, and will make the blush unusable on alpha styled skins ( skins with their own skin-tone ), but is the only method of getting rid of white pixelated squares in-game, that I know of.
