Hello all,Â
I am sorry to say that this is goodbye from me. Unfortunately, I don't have enough time to spend on IEG anymore. My life is so busy at the moment, and if there was 12 extra hours in a day I know I'd never even think of leaving. I love it here, I have had such an unforgettable experience at this RP and it really saddens me that I have to up and leave you all when a few other members have also just left. I want everyone to know that I absolutely adore and love all of you, I am going to miss everyone so much.  I apologise to the people that I have paras/am interacting with, particularly Jay (I was so keen to get some Druserése happening) and Envy (we finally start Remirése and I decide to leave). So, goodbye and farewell and I am never going to forget a single one of you. Maybe one day I'll be back, we can hope so. My personal blog is thievingsparrow if anyone would like to stay in touch.
Love always, Sophie
Therése, darling, look. I brought you a gift.
~ Drusilla
164 is a good age, a respectable age. Iâm just north of 500.
You are beautiful indeed. Tell me everything. Tell me, youâve seen all manner of kings and queens, poets and ruffians alike, yes?Â
My devil plum, you could only begin to imagine what I've seen. But -you- see much more than I do, dont you? You see the truth in the lies.
And when did you and these places first become one?
I was born again before the Sisters of Mercy, 164 years ago. I joined with them, and they with me.
You are much older, I can feel it. How old are you?
164 is a good age, a respectable age. I'm just north of 500.
Once, there was a time when I was from everywhere. From every place, all at once, and they were from me.Â
And when did you and these places first become one?
shadow-deity said: Thatâs quite a compliment coming from you. My name is TherĂ©se LefĂ©vre.
She sounds French. Is she from France, darling?
She is from France. And where is Drusilla from?
The Hand That Feeds Pt. 2 || Therése & Ezra (trigger warnings in tag)
He had a repetitive dream. He dreamt of a tree. A sickly tree. Gnarled and rotting from the inside out. The roots expanded out far under the earth; so much so that if you pulled it from the soil the tree would look almost symmetrical on both sides. They grew down, stealing all the water from the area. No green is nurtured; all that survived was the hardiest of weeds, which grew scraggly and sparse. The tree was dying. No one expected anything but. This tree had been corrupted long ago. Branches cut off the lifeblood to their own twigs and leaves. Itâs unnatural. From these actions, the tree was putrefying itself. Watching its enemy go down it was being poisoned. The tree knew this. As it slowly died it wanted to cause as much pain as it could. It wanted people to be in as much pain as it was. Recognizing this, people stayed away. And the tree was forced to take out its frustrations on itself. Until one girl tried to find warmth from it. Invisible chains locked her in place. Binding her, unforgiving, against the tree. She was a small twig on that tree, but she had no leaves of her own. She was dry and broken, a dead limb. But still, she stayed.
When she felt hungry, the tree taunted her with the fruit it bore, dangling them in front of her, then snatching them away before she could get a taste. When she felt thirsty, the tree would shape its leaves into cups, in which it pooled rain. Then it let the water trickle onto her, soaking all but her lips, torturing her burning throat. When she hurt, the chains tighten, forcing the bark further into her flesh, like shattered glass. And when she was almost gone, staring into the face of the grim reaper, only then did it allowed her to taste its fruit. Then it slips water between her cracked lips, bringing life back to the desert her mouth had become. Shoving death away, only so the tree could torture her again. He was the tree. And his sire, Therese, was the girl. Or at least, thats how he felt towards the dream, and Ezra was no expert when it came to deciphering what those meant. He didnât even have a dream journal. It only made sense to him, and watching Therese here, chained to the ceiling, made him remember it and appreciate it more.
Honestly, he never thought this moment would come. After so many years of searching and eventually giving up and trying to convince himself that she didnât matter, she was here. He had found her and it had been Matthew who had originally introduced them. Funny how things worked. She didnât look as terrified as he expected her to be, but he was not surprised by it either. She could see the hatred in his eyes, and the nervous shaking of her lower lip told her that she was not as calm as she pretended to be. Ezra had to admit that her self control was flawless. He had seen weaker vampires buckle under the pressure, crying and spitting and begging to be released. Therese seemed strong enough to take the heat and Ezra could not help but feel just a little proud that she was his mother.Â
She spoke, and Ezra laughed, adding pressure on the clipper and lifting the nail from the flesh. blood flooded to the surface and began to drip from her fingertip. Left him? Well, of course he wanted to know why. Why she decided to turn him only to walk away from him like he was nothing. She screamed and the sound of her voice made his spine shiver. The anger that rose in him caused him to throw the object he held in his hand against the wall with such force that the metal pieces shattered as the hit the ground. He moved towards her, placing his hand against her face and squeezing her cheeks so tight that they were going to leave a definite mark. âI want to know why. Why did you do it?â His eyes were swelling up and he had to fight the tears from forming. He could hear Erikâs voice in his head. Control your emotions. You act like a child. Stop being so temperamental. Itâs going to get you killed one day.Â
He released her, bringing the same fingers to his face so he could wipe the wetness away. Well, now he probably looked pathetic to her. Not the best first impression, right? âI was dyingâŠâ He began. âI was done. I suffered but I was done. I was going to find some sort of peace.â At the time, he believed in some kind of heaven. He believed that all the pain he was enduring was purifying him. There was no way his soul would not make into heave. He would see his mother again. And she ruined everything. âYou made into this. And for what? Was I your little experiment, was that it? You just wanted to see what it was like to sire someone or do you just find some kind of twisted satisfaction in turning dying humans into monsters?â He released a soft chuckle before she could answer, reaching for his pocket and pulling out a small red velvet box. âThis is something I bought specially for you.â He opened it and unveiled a necklace adorned by a silver crucifix. Ezra held it by its chain and moved behind her, placing it around her neck . When the cross began to burn her skin, he sighed. âSo ⊠begin. Tell me a story mommy dearest.âÂ
Pain. It was only a small amount of pain, but it was pain all the same. Pain she couldnât protect herself from or even fight back against. She screamed louder than what felt necessary. It started out gruntingly in her throat, but as the nail began tearing slowly from her skin and the smell of blood filled her nostrils, she allowed it to unleash from her lips like a short, shrill wail. It was more of an irritating hurt than one that would warrant a truly agonizing screech, but she wanted him to feel satisfied. Even though she knew that that time wouldnât come until much more blood had been spilled, she still felt as though appeasing him was more appropriate than being too tough. If she acted like all this was a cinch, heâd only try harder to break her and she already knew how creative he was. He knew he could get more from her than a half feigned scream. But as he threw the metal contraption against the wall and it shattered to pieces, a sigh of relief escaped her lips. It appeared she wouldnât be losing all her fingernails after all.
He seemed so flustered, as though there were a thousand and one heavy thoughts racing through his mind all at once, each one fighting the others for top billing. His eyes were beginning to well up with frustration, making half of Therése want to hold him to her chest and stroke his hair, and the other half want to laugh in his face tauntingly. He suddenly gripped her face between his hands, holding her head so tight she thought he might squash it right there between two cold, marble palms, her head instinctively pulling back away from him.
âI want to know why. Why did you do it?â
Therése was about to speak - well, insult - but as he backed away from her to wipe a couple of stray tears that threatened to spill helplessly down his cheeks, she stopped herself. Her body relaxed once more, pulling down for a moment on the chains that held her arms up high, resting her feet as he spoke.
âI was dyingâŠâ
He tottered on for a short while about finding peace and ending the pain, as all immortals who feel cheated by the way their human existence ended do, but TherĂ©se lost it the instant he began acting ungrateful, as though heâd have preferred nothing more than to be left in the dirt to die.
âWas I your little experiment, was that it? You just wanted to see what it was like to sire someone or do you just find some kind of twisted satisfaction in turning dying humans into monsters?â
If there were blood that pumped freely through her body, TherĂ©seâs cheeks would have been fire engine red as she felt her whole body begin to fume. Her arm muscles tensed and she brought herself back into the defiant straight standing position she had just relaxed from, a grimace dragging her face downward.
âDo you think I did it for me?! I did it for you! I could just as easily have left you there!â She yelled, her body leaning forward, aggressively yanking against the chains, âI didnât do it to satisfy some morbid curiosity, I did it to put you out of your misery, you should be thanking me!â That was a lie. She didnât really care if he thanked her or forgot about her, but she also didnât appreciate being belittled for gifting a beautiful stranger with eternal life. She withdrew from her screaming fit with an audible sigh, her eyes sliding closed as she pushed away the frustration of not being able to slide her hands around his neck and squeeze until his head popped right off his shoulders. Her head hung down against her chest as she settled herself, âYou donât even know what was happening to me before I found you. I still donât even know why I bothered to sire you when I could have just taken your life.â She said, her voice low and quiet. Unwelcome images of piled up soldier bodies and a constantly open wrist vein flickered through her mind, but she breathed them away.
The taunting of the silver cross necklace made TherĂ©seâs hair stand on end and he waltzed behind her to fasten it around her neck. It burned her chest the instant it collided with her skin and she did her best to lean forward so it would dangle down, away from her, but her hands were chained so high, the best she could do was have it sway back and forth, bumping repeatedly into her. Her teeth came down hard over her bottom lip as she bit a whimper away, but it was agonizing. The sporadic burns in the same spot may as well have been holy water sprinkling down from the sky, torturously slow, but unrelenting.
âSo ⊠begin. Tell me a story mommy dearest.â
His words were snakes hissing in her ears, echoing through her skull.
âYou obviously werenât worth the trouble,â she spat, the smell of burning skin agitating her nostrils and mind, âIf I knew you were such a fucking cry baby I would have sucked you dry and left your dead body in the dirt.â She glared into Ezraâs pristine, blue eyes, almost regretting the words the instant they came out, but not quite. She saw the hurt in them, and she liked it. An unrelenting, yet unnecessary, pant had developed rhythmically in her throat as she concentrated on having the cross touch her as little and briefly as possible. âItâs not like the world needs another pathetic, melodramatically vengeful vampire running around in it.â
Her words came out venomous like the snakes he had unleashed into her ears, but she hoped they hurt more than he was letting on. Perhaps she would be sorry for hurting him, but not yet, because at that moment she just felt the aggressive, passion fueled fire that began burning hotter and hotter in her stomach.
daffodils-and-viscera said: Do you hunt alone?
[pm] Yes.
Pity. Beautiful things should never hunt alone.
[pm] Hunt with me, then. Beautiful things should only ever hunt with other beautiful things, no?
You and I could feast on kings.
And their blood would make us queens?
daffodils-and-viscera said: Do you hunt alone?
[pm] Yes.
The gods envy us. They envy us because weâre mortal, because any moment may be our last. Everything is more beautiful because weâre doomed. You will never be lovelier than you are now. We will never be here again.

It's a very fun game. You'll need an appetite.
That can be arranged for the right circumstances. What is it, then?
Would you like to play a game?
I always like to play games.
