The Shadowhunters content on here is getting out of hand, so to filter some of that out I’ve made lightwoodbanemlm!

k first of all it was never actually confirmed so there goes ur argument but im gonna continue bc yall need to understand something: alec grew up gay in a very homophobic environment and also with the struggles of being the oldest sibling that meant being not only a perfect soldier but also keeping his familys name in check. he always felt that this was his responsibility so for him to imagine ever going through having feelings for other men and actually acting on them never even passed his mind. he repressed them and because he knew nothing could ever happen he decided to push and put those feelings into a “safe” space. and whats better than his straight adoptive brother turned parabatai?

think about it, alec knew this could never become an actual thing or go anywhere so this was his safest bet. that way he could continue being the epitome of perfect son - soldier while also not having the risk of acting on his sexuality. until magnus of course. he literally told magnus in 2x06 “i always knew i couldnt have what i wanted, until u came along” and that just proves it even more.

but do i think alec mightve had some sort of crush on jace? yeah sure but thats completely normal in alecs situation. but do i think he was ever actually in love with jace? hell no.

this also ties up with ppl saying that magnus is “alecs second choice” or his “plan b” or whatever. and let me tell u right now thats completely false. alec fell for magnus on his own account and magnus is actually alecs first love. ppl who are saying this are not only completely invaliding the progress that alecs made being comfortable about his sexuality but are also degrading his boyfriend as some sort of a rebound person. alec loves and cares for magnus just as much as he loves and cares for other important people in his life and everyone: clalecs, jalecs, sebaliacs or whatever the hell need to start accepting this or else u never actually cared about alec in the first place. u just dont want to see alec having an asian boyfriend which speaks a lot about u as a person and ur morals. theres no other way around it.

Alec did not choose Magnus because Jace is in love with Clary. Magnus Bane is not a second choice and he never will be, and for you to say that Alec is with Magnus because Jace is not available or because it’s of the most convenience is not only ignorant but also, to quote, “speaks a lot about u as a person and ur morals.”

Personally, and this is just a personal thing, if I was in love with someone I wouldn’t refer to them as my brother, but you know that’s just a personal thing.

honestly? im kind of tired of all of malec’s fights being blamed on alec and then alec having to apologize. alec has kind of been viewed as the “bad” person in the relationship (and out; with personal stuff) this season. now, we are going to get that “get out” scene which obviously looks like alec fucked up again. i know alec is inexperienced, but he wouldn’t be that insensitive? let magnus be the one at fault just once? it would make the couple more balanced and healthy!

What I’m tired of is the zealous Alec stans, who can’t, and, most importantly, won’t see anything outside of their white fave’s discourse. The truth is that racist Alec stans don’t even need a “real evidence” of Magnus’ “fault” - they have been demonizing Magnus, and blaming every single thing on him since day one. Magnus has been constantly called “creepy”, “predatory” (which is basically a coding for a Fu Manchu racist trope), he has been accused of being “abusive” after preventing Alec to beat Raphael to pulp, he has been called “insensitive” for not letting Alec walk all over him in 2x01.

Also, why “wouldn’t Alec be that insensitive”? He’s a shadowhunter, he’s a Lightwood. Like @magnuspendragons33 said:

Jace has been constantly shown to be low key racist towards the downworlders, Max has showed the same racist attitudes at the party (which again, is yet another demonstration that racism is taught), even Izzy, the most respective towards the downworlders in the family, called a werewolf “a doggie” in 2x03. I know that most of the fandom considers that scene to be OOC, but I actually think it to be quite realistic. 

All of them have been taught by the society they live in, by their parents, to treat downworlders as lower beings, they have been fed racist stereotypes from the moment of their birth – it’s not something you can magically shake off one moment. So, why would Alec be different from the rest of them? Because he’s fandom’s fave and fandom imagines him to be “pure cinnamon roll”? 

Alec sent Meliorn to be tortured in season 1, he viciously beat Raphael to pulp in 2a, he accused Magnus of lying about Izzy (because he still has that stereotype that warlocks can’t be trusted in the subconscious level of his mind). So, yeah, Alec is very much capable of being insensitive and racist.

to add: Alec literally says, “Downworlders are slaves to their impulses. We’re not,” reiterating the feeling that downworlders are lesser beings and somehow shadowhunters are better than them.

In another uncomfortable moment, he demands Iris to show her warlock mark as if he has authority over her. Their entire culture is based off shadowhunters having power over downworlders. Alec is more privileged than Magnus even if he does not realize this. That in itself is enough for him to misstep.
