Prompt: Dean gets whammied by an evil faerie god mother on a hunt and has to experience true love’s first kiss before the stroke of midnight or he dies. Obviously that’s impossible, so Sam, Dean, and Cas frantically search for an alternative cure as the clock ticks down. But at five minutes to midnight, with no cure in sight, Cas has to face the prospect of losing Dean forever and makes one last ditch effort to save him. Kissy kissy.
“Dean, what the hell were you thinking?” Sam exclaims from the passenger side of the impala.
“I dunno Sam, I guess I just want to protect you for once! I knew you’d try to protect me if you were there, and I knew you wouldn’t let me do what needed to be done”
Sam punches the seat beside him. “Dammit, Dean, you got cursed by a fucking fairy godmother.”
“Hey!” I growl. “Don’t treat baby like that! This shit’s not her fault. And don’t you think I know that? I killed the bitch, but hell, if I’d known at the time she had a defensive curse voodoo ready, I’d have handled it-“
“What, differently? You handled it how you always do! I’m a part of this business too, so like it or not, you need to start including me.
“He’s right, you know” I curse, and nearly swerve off the road at the sound of Cas’s voice emanating from the back seat.
“Alright, well, enough.” I huff. “Here’s the deal; we’ve got to figure out how to break this curse before midnight.” Sam gives me a dirty look before returning to the book in front of him. “And, Dean?” Sam asks. “What was that curse, again?”
The stupid idiot just wants to get me to say it again. “I have to have a true love’s kiss, before ‘the clock strikes midnight’. What an unoriginal, pretentious bitch.”
“ A true love’s kiss, eh?” leers Sam.
“Just shut up, and find me a cure, because god knows there’s no hope on the true love front. We’ve just got to get back to the bunker and figure all this out.
“Any ideas, Cas?” Sam directs the question to the backseat, but it is empty. Cas, that bastard, has disappeared again.
Sam startles as I throw my book across the bunker. Its 11:45pm, and we’ve got nothing to go on. There’s just too much content about fairy godmothers and curses in popular literature; we simply don’t have time to wade through all of this. Cas has been popping in and out with increasingly agitated frequency. He is obviously having no luck, either
I take another swig of my beer, noting vaguely that it must be the third or fourth beer I’ve downed tonight.
“Dean,” Sam says softly, “what happens to you is we can’t break this curse?”
“Oh, the usual.“ I mutter. “Death, turned into a pumpkin, nothing good.”
“Dean.” I startle a bit at the sound of Cas’s voice, something thrumming deep inside my chest.
What, Cas?” I snarl. It’s 11:56 pm. I don’t have a lot of time left “Way to show up on time for the final show.” I’m too bitter. But hey, it’s my last night on earth, and I’m drunk. I should get some slack.
“Dean, I wouldn’t want to presume-“ begins Cas.
“Presume what, Cas?” I spin on my heel, only to find Cas’s face inches from mine.
I’m suddenly awash with roiling emotions. I haven’t felt this way for years, maybe ever. “Cas, we’ve talked about this. Personal space.” I get the words out, trying to throw up a barrier, take back control of the situation, of my riotous emotions.
“No, Dean.” states Cas. My eyes flicker up to his, and my brain shorts out. Before I know what’s happening, his lips are on mine, gently, but insistently. And then my hands are in his hair and his hands are on my waist and dammit, the world could end right now and I wouldn’t notice. And my tongue is in his mouth and I taste cinnamon and blueberries and Cas.
“Ahem.” I register that Sam is still in the room, gazing astonished at the two of us. I pull away from Cas, and glance at the clock. 12:01 am. And I’m still here. My shocked eyes meet Cas’s.
“Well, this is a development.” mutters Sam. “I’ll leave you to it, I guess.”
I vaguely notice Sam leaving the room, but I can’t do anything but stand frozen, trying to understand what just happened.
“Dean.” Cas says. “Dean, I’m sorry.”
“No, Cas. Seriously. Don’t you understand what just happened? You just saved my life.”
“No, Cas, just listen. You saved my life, but you also made me realize what I’ve been avoiding for a while.”
“Dean? I don’t understand.”
I sigh. “Dammit, Cas.” And I pull him closer for another kiss. Time stops, again, for a long time.
