Statues of Grace with his new familly and his students
on the beach, in every life.
the aroace read of ryland grace is so personal and haunting. "you don't even have a dog." was it not enough to love the world for the sake of living in it. was it not enough to live for the thrill of discovery. was it not enough to smile at your students. was it not enough to be afraid.
Grace may have been a coward in those final moments, but up until that point he was so brave. stepping back into a world that threw him out, risking having to face not just more failure and rejection, but also the end of the world. he didn’t have a partner, but he loved his students, he loved teaching, and he gave it up. because he loves humanity. does being different make his love less important? does it not deserve grace too?
rocky's crew dying from radiation exposure, something humans go to great lengths to prevent and are very scared of and ryland's crew dying in their "sleep" with nobody watching, something eridians go to great lengths to prevent and are very scared of. cool book that is easy to read through your tears.
I was so scared they were heading for a romance subplot but congrats to Project Hail Mary for going for the far funnier option of 'Trolley Operator' and 'Guy She Is Actively Tying To The Tracks'. What a dynamic. Movie of the year.
PSA: Next to Normal does not have, nor does it need a villian. Gabe is not the villain, he’s a product of the Goodmans’ very complicated grief. Dan is not the villain, he’s under-informed, desperate, and terrified. Diana is not the villain, she is a woman with no control over her literal disorder.
wylan van eck character of all time. deeply anxious and pathetic while also being a snarky little bitch. manages to perfectly balance both an inferiority and superiority complex. sees his boss/sort of kidnapper take someone’s eye out and then throw them overboard and proceeds to yell at him for it. stops in the middle of breaking into one of the most secure strongholds in the world to ask his crush if he likes guys. wholeheartedly believes his inability to read is a moral failing. plays the flute. blows things up for profit. has genya make him a little hotter when he’s getting tailored back. is a good enough actor to fool the whole merchant council but cannot control his own blush. has a constant internal monologue questioning all his life choices. makes a bet over his dad wanting to kill him. maintains extremely one-sided beef with the guy who kissed his sort of boyfriend. loves his friends. loves his mom. has a beautiful tenor. is nice to his stepmom’s birds. spits in his abusive dad’s face. gets super beat up for a job and all the other characters are like hey you really didn’t have to go that hard and his response is basically “yeah i know i wanted to <3”.

You have no idea how happy it makes me that this little detail is in the pro shot
having a hard time focusing today. i've also had a hard time focusing for the previous 15 or so years leading up to now but this post is about today.
@runefirestarter wanted this to become a thing (so i made it >:])
No idea if anyone else has done this 🥲
i just wanted to draw him in a blacksmiths apron
Pretty guy and his sad, giant eyes
my six of crows headcanons (mostly modern au hc) that on not going to explain <3
kaz would totally listen to florence + the machine and hozier, everyone is suprised.
modern au jesper would Absolutly be that one person who learns to sew just so they can make their own clothes
modern au jesper would also play roller derby
all the crows are queer <3
nina is the resident book dragon of the group, and regularly rants about the books in their groupchat
they have like 6 different group chats for different topics
jesper and nina did drama, but they dragged wylan, matthias and inej into their school's musical (kaz threatened to stab them if they tried to get him to join)
jesper and nina are those two people who always have things just outside the school uniform regulation, but who keep it subtle enough to not get in trouble
they have a discord server with a bunch of those bots that run games and kaz hasn’t taken his status off do not disturb since jesper forced him to join, but he secretly gets REALLY into the bot game that lets you collect pokémon

thinking about how wylan would often protest to the morality of what the crows were planning only to go along with it anyway.
from the beginning he made it clear that he wasn’t very happy about kaz’s lack of ethics. yet at the same time, he did his part without much of a fight at all. sure, he’d point out when he thought something was fucked up, but it rarely came across as anything more than him simply expressing his opinion.
it could be argued that wylan only helped because he didn’t really have any other choice, but as we know from moments such as the infamous “we could wake them up” line, he wasn’t exactly trying to avoid doing anything immoral.
so maybe it was never actually about whether something was morally good or not.
maybe he just wanted to prove that he has a moral code; that he can understand right from wrong. because that way, he could still cling onto the possibility that maybe his father might one day find him redeemable.
