In three short weeks it has turned my life upside down in such an amazing way, from encouraging my to take up skating and working out again, to actively encouraging my to contribute to fandom without fear for the first time in years. It has given me so much in terms of personal happiness and well-being in such a short amount of time and that’s amazing.

So, I want to pay it forward a bit.

‘Yuri!!! on Ice’ Location part2

This person on twitter posted a nice comparison of the fictional city Hasetsu (長谷津) in YOI and the actual city Karatsu (唐津)!

And also, after having done some research, I’ve finally found out where this gorgeous Victor+Yuuri+poodle shower scene from the ED took place.

Kubo Mitsurou, the creator of YOI, posted this photo on her twitter account today (but unfortunately she didn’t tell us where it is).

I’m pretty sure though that it’s the Hamasaki Beach (浜崎海水浴場) which looks like this:

Some local specialities:

Ika no ikizukuri (イカの活き造り)

‘Maki no Udon’ (牧のうどん) is an actual local restaurant chain in Fukuoka/Saga area. You can see their banner hung on the wall of the ice rink. (Seems like they are one of the few remaining sponsors of Ice Castle Hasetsu.)

Many viewers watching episode 2 of Yuri!!! on Ice may have thought that Yuuri was just idly skating around during the scene where he’s skating alone, but he’s actually skating compulsory figures, an event that was part of competitions until 1990. It’s known as the origin of figure skating.
