“The Permanent Agony of Not Being Late”
How can a table reflect on the seductive power of everyday rituals? Mapping my journey from home to work on a typical day, from the time I wake up until the time I leave the house, I discovered the key role of the dining table as my main domestic threshold area. On this table I keep a series of coats and jackets, gloves, hats, scarves, bags and keys where my 'metamorphosis' takes place before I leave the house. It is the boundary from my secure indoor world to the perilous world outside. The development of this map is the design of table that equates my ontology and the way I interact with it. The proposal is based on the idea of two horizontal surfaces. One that can be used as before for storing my personal things and a second surface on top of the other, kept neat and empty for any other use (dining, studying, etc.)
