This is what makes a legendary bl adaptation.

It’s scenes like this that makes fan become diehard followers of a series.

It’s when the actors manage to convey so much love and affection through micro-expressions, from the unconscious softening of the eyes, to the slight upturned lips, to the contentness you feel just by being in the presence of the one you love, and to the way you can’t help but call out their name or stare at them even though they are right in front of you.

Seriously though, props to the actors for conveying all of this so naturally, which is what makes it all so believable. They don’t force out unnatural lines or constantly find themselves in each other’s arms like some kind of shitty slapstick comedy, it’s just the natural progression of two people who have found their soulmates.

People adapt bl dramas thinking that fans just want to see two guys together. They think that as long as they have two guys, we’d buy into it. However, in some cases, less is more. What we really want is the chemistry between two people. What we want is for them to portray real emotions in a believable manner. At the end of the day, it’s the deep affection that keeps us hooked, not tasteless and meaningless skinship. It’s the helpless look when they think the other isn’t paying attention, the way they find themselves drifting close to each other, the ease with which they come together that gains a fan’s recognition.
