Albert Camus, The Misunderstanding (1943)
I was listened to, but I wasn’t heard.
i hope you remember it’s very human and normal to crave affection, human interaction, attention and love. you’re not “too needy” or “too sensitive” for wanting to have your emotional and social needs met accordingly.
Calm down & watch the sunset
If you think i’m rude to you, you’re wrong i’m just brutally honest
just to be clear, here’s the pro/con tea on rory’s boyfriends
dean +devoted +sweet and caring (he built her a car) +funny/adorable personality +romantic +first love +initially a decent, hard-working guy with good intentions +admires Rory’s brain +gels well with her family
-insecure in his relationships (with cause) -more traditional than Rory -low career ambitions don’t line up with Rory’s plan -grows into his negative traits -marries a woman while he’s still not over Rory -cheats on his wife with Rory and then tosses Rory aside
score: +2
jess +creative, relaxed type +passionate +likes to read and watch similar things +grows up (off-screen) and stabilizes -bad boy always causing drama for Rory -pretenious, self-involved twat -emotionally unavailable flake who runs away (granted he has a backstory) -puts very little effort into making Rory happy -tells Rory what is best for her -irresponsible -tried to pressure her (into cheating/breaking up with Dean or into having sex) -bad at positive, open communication
score: -4
logan +upfront about his fear of commitment and double checks with Rory +realizes she’s totally worth committment and becomes a completely devoted puppy +gives Rory space to figure out who she is and what she wants without judging her +mostly grows out of bad habits and personality traits +owns mistakes and fights for Rory +encourages Rory to follow every dream and not listen to anyone else +challenges Rory to live life more spontaneously +attentive, personal romantic gestures +friendly and eventually likeable +can totally spar with Rory toe-to-toe +safe, open communication, able to fight, forgive, and resolve issues +understands societal circles and familial pressures in Rory’s various social settings -starts out as an annoying, selfish jerk who won’t go away -takes him a while to understand what being in a committed relationship means -not the best judgement (en omnia paratus, parasailing, stealing yachts) -let Rory get away after she wanted to hold off on marriage -got engaged to a girl her doesn’t love just to please his family, then cheats on her with Rory
score: +7
the difference between Ross and Rachel and Logan and Rory despite having the same exact “I thought we were broken up and I slept with someone else” situation is that Logan Huntzberger explained that to him they were broken up but now he realizes that to Rory they weren’t broken up and then he apologized for hurting her and for misreading the situation
whereas Ross Geller thought they were broken up and when Rachel said she didn’t think they were, he just yelled it louder in an attempt to drown her out. and also he blamed her for causing the problem that lead to him sleeping with someone else
thanks for coming to my ted talk

Concept: a relationship where you’re both equally obsessed with one another but still respect eachothers space. There is no lack of communication or trust. Lots of sex.
