”getting a feel for a character”

Whenever I draw a character it takes me a drawing or two to get a "feel" for them, to feel comfortable drawing them.

For this one, the first time I drew @creatorkree 's character, her pose and hair were very stiff and flat- since i didnt have enough of a "feel" for her to make her feel more lively. I understand her more now, and can draw her with little reference.

Another character from @creatorkree , first time i drew her i clearly didnt have a good grasp on her hair, or have a proper understanding of how she should look- but on the third try, i had a good "feel" for her and i can draw her nearly from memory.

Then Neroooooo!!!! I drew Artoria a lot so I already had a "feel" for her in a way, since shes a saber face........................ and I can draw her from memory after one or two drawings.

So I know I haven't posted anything in a long while, but here's something I've been working on! I've been getting into a LOT of D&D lately and I had art for so many characters! This character is Malaya, and she's the marksman in her One Piece D&D crew! Some facts about her are that she is the daughter of the pirate king in her world and that she is sailing with the Freedom Pirates. I'm gonna post more about her but all will come in due time!

Redraw of some old Rin and Shirou art

Basically, I played a Call of Cthulhu game with Rin and Shirou as the characters a while ago, last year. It was a ton of fun, even if i never finished it..... hehe I decided to do a simple redraw recently, which was a ton of fun!!

In the campaign Rin was an artist in Paris (which was the setting of the game) who painted what she would see in her dreams, and Shirou was a cook, ofc. In their background, Shirou provided the stable income for Rin while she gave her all to break into the art world. In the plot, she's steadily making a name for herself, and Shirou is working extra shifts so she can fully invest on making it far for them both. Rin joins an occult art society, and thats where the campaign happens.

The old art here is concept work for their characters before dynamics were fully established. originally, Rin and Shirou's dynamic was going to be more hostile, with Rin being already successful and more dismissive, with the two of them at odds with their futures and careers. But over the course of drawing them and ironing out wrinkles, their dynamic became what it is now- more wholesome and sweet with Shirou helping Rin quit her smoking and supporting her aspirations and dreams, while Rin adores him and takes him with her to all art functions even if he doesn't fit in at all- treating him as her prized trophy husband even if hes a dork :D

Rin's dreams and art revolved around eyes and stars- which is a reference to my first CoC game where my PC gained a deep phobia of the stars and felt they were watching them. tbf, my paintings are kinda ass, but I think they're good enough to get Rin's style across.

Also the way i draw Shirou makes him look like the twink from ratatouille.

More curse of strahd doodles

Ok- I KNOW i draw Yarrow and Tzad way too much, and i would draw more of Ireena and Astrea but deadass, they dont even do that much. and rn, its just yarrow trying to do his coanvolouted evillll little plan. I made yarrow's main color green, represents the fact that yarrow is still green, or new to the world. it also contrasts with Tzad's red- which represents his nefariousness. it also represents whos alive and whos dead, with green showing the life Yarrow has been given a second shot at, and Tzad's dead, ghost status. I made astrea's outfit a golden orange color because the necklace yarrow wanted to give her and her eyes are a similar color and i think its a nice summer color but it might be more of a fall color which ehhhhh... whatever man

idk why I put of posting this for so damn long, but here she is in all her glory

I basically kept doodling and making the cavas bigger as waited for my next Curse of Strahd game, to kinda prolong the escapism.

One of my favorite parts was designing the front of the enchanted book Yarrow found. It’s one of a set, where whatever is written in one book shows up in both, and my dm <3 has used it to put Yarrow in contact with Escher. Since the front of the book will be Escher’s face for a while, I had to design it really nicely~!

One of my favorite parts of the session was the gargoyles on the bridge. Yarrow managed to distract the gargoyles by flying an owl familiar under the bridge as a distraction while everyone ran as fast as they could. It would have gone perfectly if I didn’t forget to disengage and Yarrow got knocked out….

The fact they both look almost identical makes all the art of them silly af hehhee. But it was a lot of fun, drawing Tzad’s outfits- I tried to really capture his flamboyant manner of dress and his aura (of which Yarrow has none).

Yarrow is whipped for his patron (who looks almost exactly like him) at this point, and I had to draw him engaging in some sad, pathetic yearning simpery for his dead ghost patron lover whos just leading him on.

and whats more pathetic while also being so wholesomely sweet then kissing and cherishing your lover's marble statue???? its really sweet but also something embarrassing to get caught doing.

i hate them both they are so stupid uahhhhhhh <3

My take on Ireena from Curse of Strahd

I love Ireena a ton, even if she pisses me off a little sometimes. I decided to draw her as how i envision her in my head.

I went with puffy sleeves and pants in a nice blue and yellow, giving it that more noble vibe. the leather shoes and gear hopefully ad more to her tomboyish side, i wanted her to look a little like a warrior. I also like how her hair looks in a ponytail~!

over all, im sad she might have to go soon. i really enjoyed my time with her!
