I'm gonna be a theatre nerd on main here. Okay, the original recording of Christopher Plummer singing Edelweiss was released yesterday and honestly, I just want them to re-release the film with his vocals, not the dub. It feels much more natural and organic to him as a performer. What do I mean by that? Well, the man who dubbed Plummer sounded lovely, absolutely nothing wrong. But with Plummer's voice back in, I noticed subtle shifts in his acting that I hadn't before. The original dub is "Hello I am here and I am singing a pretty song, the end." Plummer's version is "I love my country, I love my family...and I think I love this woman who came into my home." And the tiny shifts in his voice match the expressions on his face and the way his eyes suddenly glint in a different way as the Captain. In conclusion, by God that man could act and he shouldn't have been dubbed in the first place. Maybe that's why he was always reticent to sing it in public.

"I don't know what word in the English language - I can't find one - applies to people who are willing to sacrifice the literal existence of organized human life so they can put a few more dollars into highly stuffed pockets. The word 'evil' doesn't even begin to approach it." - Noam Chomsky

I can't believe booktok is saying that katniss just "settled" for peeta bc she couldn't get over gale's bomb. bc. in the books. remember how katniss was never actually uncomfortable with being with peeta, her problem was that she didn't want to reveal her feelings to all of panem in a strategic survival play - meanwhile, every time gale is suggested as her lover, either privately by him, or as an act by coin, her reactions range from discomfort to disgust? remember how she experiences actual desire to kiss peeta, but only kisses gale when he's in pain or she's sad about peeta and wants to feel something? remember how being separated from gale is like "damn :/ my bestie" and being separated from peeta makes her want to fucking die? remember how peeta comes up in her thoughts at least 2x as often as gale does, even when she is actively speaking with gale? remember how
"Suzanne Collins gave Coriolanus Snow a tragic backstory and made him sympathetic!" So close. Actually, she put the reader in the POV of an extremely privileged character whose thoughts and views and morals still ultimately aligned with fascism, who constantly fell back on those philosophies no matter how many brief moments of humanity he felt for the Districts. She wrote a realistic human being who aligned himself with the status quo and benefited from it. She demonstrated a character who did not become kinder or more empathetic through his suffering, but instead became angrier at the indignity of it, and punished the ones he saw as "deserving" it sevenfold. She showed you, the reader, that those in power know exactly how much the oppressed suffer, and do it anyway, even if they briefly suffer the same.

today is as good a day as any to cry about jem and will. about how beautifully they loved in each other and found comfort in one another. about jem's patience and kindness and bravery (people would say loving will was hard and difficult, jem would answer that not doing so would be harder, impossible). about will's undefied loyalty and care and passion.
