Addi's latest painting. I think that spring is on her mind
798 art district still alive with great street art
This is how my daughter spends her weekends in Norway taking beautiful photos to send to her mother in polluted Beijing!
Weekend refuge from Big Bad Beijing when the air is too polluted to go outside.
Working on portraits with my students telling them that drawing is about really seeing the world around them and breaking everything up into lines, shapes and their relationships to one another...I drew Celine.Kendra
Addi's painting of the lighthouse we see when we arrive by ferry boat on our island in Maine. Living in Norway she experiences beauty all the time but nothing beats the Penobscot Bay in July.
Air quality hit 755 last night (20 is normal) in Beijing and the city made the front page of the New York Times and many other newspapers around the world. If the government spent as much time caring for the environment as it does trying to silence this creative man environmental changes might occur faster. Kendra
"How much cake can one take? "...is a question that came to me in the middle of the night. I dont know if it was because it was right after Christmas with lots of overeating or on some other level that this question came my way. Suddenly I was thinking about how many slices of cake the human race takes from the earth! This thought combined with the subliminal messages I recieve from the TV every day, telling us all about the melting arctic, rising temperatures and our never waning dependence on oil. I had just been looking at the work of the artist, Wayne Theibaud. All these influcences got me thinking.. so when I woke up I began this drawing. Hopefully there will be more to come. 2013 ! Just thinking about how my daughter and I can stay in touch when we are half a world apart. Hoping that posts, photos, drawings and paintings can hold us closer. Kendra
