bridgette watches justin closely as he talks, like he’s some wild animal and she’s the alligator wrangler or something. where was all of this during the season ? unless it was bad press to even talk about these kinds of things ; the cameras captured everything, and not everyone had the nothing - to - hide reputation that she did. sometimes too little to hide. but her passion for, well, geoff last season did boost her engagement and got her a sponsorship opportunity with the global wildlife fund’s animal matchmaking campaign.

“ i don’t know if that makes me feel better or worse that it’s all a hoax. ” she rolls the damp sand between her fingertips — basically a natural exfoliant — and only looks up when he finishes his thought.

if bridgette is looking at him strangely, all justin really notices is that he’s being LOOKED AT at all.  he catches sight of his reflection in the water, momentarily distracted.  he flicks his head to the side, moving some loose, wet strands of hair back into place -- photogenic as always, even if there aren’t cameras around.  it is his default setting, instilled into him all his life now instinct.  “i wouldn’t feel too sore about it, it made me good money.”

his head tilts slightly at the question.  a small furrow to his brow as he tries to make sense of her words.  did that mess with his head ??  justin was his image, and as long as his image was pristine, what did he have to worry about ??  and so he smiles, perhaps a bit vapid, but its every bit survival as it is an instinct.  “no, not really.”

this is a formal apology for the fact that justin is the most beautiful person ever.  i know, it’s not fair to everyone else, but someone has hold that burden.  and hold it he does.

she looks over at justin and wonders if he was even capable of feeling so gangly, so uncomfortable in his own skin. “ my mom refused to buy me any of that fancy acne stuff when i was younger. she said that the only things i needed were the sun and the sea. ” she laughs, breaking any illusion of self - absorption. “ i mean, even if she wasn’t right, those exfoliant microbeads are killer on the environment. ”

“we had very different mothers,” he chuckles.  lenore davignon is a piece of work, of course; having put justin into modeling basically since he was born.  her obsession with his skin and body being perfect is almost as  extensive as with her own.  justin loves his mom, though -- would he be so naturally flawless without all the proper upkeep ??  ( he’s sure he would be, but there’s no use in taking that risk -- remember how that small blemish back in action had nearly ruined him ?? ).  

“to be fair, most of that stuff really was just a gimmick.  the product they had me use for commercials were always waaay different than what they were selling.  but, then again,” he laughs, soft and practiced so not to harm his soothing vocal chords in any way, “they were selling me.”

"you know -- salt water is actually REALLY GOOD for your skin,” justin says.  not that he really needs tips & tricks -- look at him !! -- but it does help.  he spent the better part of his childhood surfing in hawaii, at least until his agent let him know that a surfing accident could jeopardize his future as, well, HIM !!  but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t still get his toes wet every now and then.

What's your phone wallpaper:  my dog in front of my parents’ christmas tree, wearing a christmas collar which he absolutely hated. ( see under read more for my baby !! ) Last song you listened to: grifter by l.s. dunes.  i’ve had the entire past lives album on repeat for a while now, although i usually just press replay on sleep cult because i’m fine, i’m totally doing just fine right now. Last movie: i watched qu.een ch.arlotte in its entirety, does that count ?? What are you wearing: a nightgown Piercings / tattoos:  my right nostril and my ears, but i’m definitely teetering on the edge of needing to do something dramatic and soon. Glasses / contacts or both?: nope!  i do wear blue light glasses at work though.  honestly i probably should go to an eye doctor. Last thing you ate: leftover ham and potatoes, i’m debating on whether or not i want an ice cream sandwich or some of the chocolate chip cookies i made over the weekend. Favorite color(s): light purples (lavender/lilac), red, black Current Obsession: the vam.pire chron.icles -- both the books and the show, and tbh anything regarding it.  i finished reading the series a couple of weeks ago ( i’ve attempted to read it off-and-on since i was 11 so it was cool to finally get beyond the third book !! ) and i’m still in vampire hell.  i’m also back on my he.talia bullshit but let’s not address that.  but also, always, in my a.cotar era.  i’m all over the place, i guess.
