Someday your hands will be old and wrinkled, the skin spotted and bunching over your knuckles. And a child will watch you make something. It's a simple task, you'll have done it a thousand times before. But to that child, the smooth, confident way your hands move will seem like impossible magic. You have to keep living.
prev these tags have me crying. this is absolutely what it's all about
silver’s “we might be friends by then” is so funny cause like… jokes on you y’all fall in love and you crash out so hard from the gay panic you murder him. and then you have the audacity to name your pet after him.
i was reluctant to set aside the book until i'd finished the show but i can't deny that it is fun to read treasure island as a blacksailshead. someone would be like "yarrr remember the good times we had upon the walrus mateys..." and i'd be like that's not true. that's lies. nobody was having a good time on the walrus.
on one hand, silver killing flint is great because he spends the rest of his life lying to madi and waiting for her to trust and believe him again but she never will. on the other hand, silver leaving flint with thomas means one day flint will look in the mirror and wonder if the comfort has grown stale and he's casting about in the dark for some proof that he mattered and finding none and he'll know that he gave it away in that moment on that island with silver
underrated bit in black sails is when silver undermines the entire concept of torture and hes like oh noo it wouldnt work. no not because im tough. i would say literally anything at all to get you to stop.
did everyone forget that the message of the ugly duckling isn't "you'll get a revenge body and all the haters will be sooo jealous" but actually "one day you'll be around people who understand who you are and love you for it"
those ducks still think he's ugly as shit btw. he just doesn't care anymore.
there’s not words for what the black sails finale does to you . ive been through some Shows, some Final Episodes that have shaken me to the core, that have stayed with me. but oh my god the journey of black sails concludes in this all-consuming, all-encompassing, eternal spectre that tears your soul asunder. its so visceral. and its not even unexpected. it’s an expected narrative it’s an unexpected narrative it’s pulling apart the atomic threads of what a “narrative” is. and you are NEVER the same again. its not even possible to articulate the experience of watching it because theres no WAY to EXPLAIN. FUCK
i do really like flint's ending (silver's version) bc silver is like i have conspired against you and betrayed you by granting you the dearest wish of your heart. i've completely and utterly destroyed and #owned and unmade you by making you happy again. and you can't resist it or resent me for it because this is what you always wanted. the perfect crime. and like. he's right
i like that black sails ends in an ambiguous way that says You can believe what you want :] and whether you say i believe this happened because i want it to have happened and it comforts me or i believe that happened because it disturbs me and makes for a good story you're proving all its points and themes
This is the world capitalists want to return to.
