I feel like I haven’t done anything satanic in a while so hence this post: it is based off of this prompt x and it is written for my baby ingeniosus-decoris who RP’s a wonderful Gwen Stacy. Also I have no idea how to do wedding vows so punch me in the throat if I’ve done it wrong. Guys you can cry now.
He’d always loved her no matter what she wore—- she could be wearing his t-shirt that hadn’t been washed for a week and she’d still look gorgeous.
He sees her for the first time up on the aisle, waiting for him. Not anyone else— him, Peter Parker the nerd that no one had even glanced at before. Him, and not Spider-Man. And it felt amazing. His heart swells up with pride- but mostly love for the girl up there, her stunning viridian green eyes as they sparkle down at him along with her smile.
His breath hitches when he looks at her dress; it’s an all over ivory lace— which she had talked about all the time ever since they had started planning their wedding, it’s tight on the waist and then flairs out at the bottom. She looks breathtaking in it.
He reminds himself that he need to breathe and actually move so he could hurry and be with her for all eternity.
Everyone’s there and he’s pretty sure that Aunt May’s crying. If only Uncle Ben was there, then it would be even more perfect than it already was. He knows that even Flash is there and he doesn’t even look at him to taunt him because he can’t take his eyes off of Gwen.
“You look so beautiful. I— I’ve—- you’re an angel.” He says softly when he gets up there, standing close to her with the Priest ready to start.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered together here in the sight of God, and in the face of this company, to join together this Man and this Woman in holy Matrimony; which is an honourable estate, instituted of God, signifying unto us the mystical union that is betwixt Christ and his Church: which holy estate Christ adorned and beautified with his presence and first miracle that he wrought in Cana of Galilee, and is commended of Saint Paul to be honourable among all men: and therefore is not by any to be entered into inadvisedly or lightly; but reverently, discreetly, advisedly, soberly, and in the fear of God. Into this holy estate these two persons present come now to be joined. If any man can show just cause, why they may not lawfully be joined together, let him now speak, or else hereafter for ever hold his peace."
Nobody objects because Peter and Gwen are already one.
"Peter Benjamin Parker, do you take Gwendolyn Maxine Stacy to be your wedded wife to live together in marriage. Do you promise to love, comfort, honor and keep her. For better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health. And forsaking all others, be faithful only to her so long as you both shall live?"
"I do," and Peter is sure that he has the biggest smile on his face as he gazes lovingly at his bride because his cheeks were starting to hurt.
"And do you, Gwendolyn Maxine Stacy, do you take Peter Benjamin Parker, to be your wedded husband to live together in marriage. Do you promise to love, comfort, honor and keep him. For better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health. And forsaking all others, be faithful only to her so long as you both shall live?”
"I do," Gwen replies and Peter sees the adoration for him (only him) in her eyes as she says those words.
"I now announce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride," the Priest says. Finally, Peter thinks, he hasn’t seen her all day and he’s aching to touch her. He wants to do the clichéd thing, where the groom dips the bride down and kisses her passionately— so he does and when his lips meet hers he can feel her smile against his and they are all that matter in that moment.
His eyes flutter shut and it’s the biggest mistake he’s made because he wakes up to reality. Of course the first thing he does is look at the pillow besides him seeing if she’s there.
She’s not. He realises that he can’t tell her that she looks beautiful every morning. He can’t make her burnt toast because he can’t cook, he would never have the chance to jokingly ask her why she hadn’t kicked the Priest in the balls for calling her ‘Gwendolyn’ and he can’t tell her that he loves her.
His eyes fill with tears and he bites his lip and tries to blink them back but they fall anyways. He can’t stop and in a while his whole body is racking with sobs and he is shaking his head like a mad man because he wants the dream to be real.
He cries so much that he doesn’t notice Aunt May come in (he ruins her sleep every night) and she holds him but he’s not completely there, he’s trying to go back— to fall asleep again. Aunt May doesn’t say a single word only stroking his hair softly and cradling him in her arms, there’s nothing else she can say and keeps him there until he has cried himself to sleep.
It’s the same dream he will be having for all eternity and he’s thankful for it.
There are no more nightmares for Peter Parker and when he closes his eyes—- it’s the only place where he feels content, happy, blissful because there is Gwendolyn Maxine Stacy.
