Phased Renewal at Stoney Creek Campus Nearing Completion
Mohawk’s Stoney Creek Campus is one of the largest trainers of apprentices in Ontario, with programming to prepare students with the industry knowledge they need to succeed in the workplace. This summer, the Stoney Creek Campus Renewal project has undertaken a number of consolidations, new construction, repairs and re-thinking of what students need to excel in their studies while enjoying the campus experience and receiving quality service offerings.
Student and staff were asked what they wanted to see in their campus – beautified college spaces, student-centred study and social spaces, improved amenities and the flexibility to accommodate new and innovative programming. We listened! The renewal at Stoney Creek Campus includes an improved library space, more room to socialize and collaborate, a feature hallway or ‘Main Street’, a fitness centre and the installation of cohesive signage and wayfinding that gives direction, but also provides a sense of identity across the campus. Student Services is being consolidated to create greater efficiency and ‘one-stop shopping’, benefiting both staff and students.
Creation of space for collaborating, participating in social activities, fitness and recreation, and enhanced teaching and learning facilities will prepare students for life after College, on top of workplace skills gained in the lab and classroom. New Collaboratory space will include silent study and the addition of a Tech Bar in the library. The Stoney Creek Campus Renewal Plan creates an opportunity for our apprenticeship students to enjoy and engage in an enhanced, meaningful campus life experience.
