d-cresswellâ:
Dirk didnât even bother to read into the way sheâd spoken, merely took up the conversation to see where else it might lead, it was never smart to judge at the beginning after all. âOh they werenât always like that.â he told her with a smile, âThe Goblins have got many reasons to be less than cordial to us Wizards and Witches, over the centuries weâve been pretty despicable towards them.â A lot of that bad-blood was still very much felt among their kind. âBut, like with most people if you treat them with kindness and respect theyâll return it to you.â Plus, it made his job a great deal easier if he was simply nice to those that he worked with. Honestly, he still didnât quite understand why some people felt the need to be so stand-offish much of the time.
âMe? Oh no,â he shook his head, âI work at the Goblin Liaison Office.â he told her, stretching a hand out, âMy nameâs Dirk Cresswell, itâs nice to meet you.â And he meant it, Dirk enjoying meeting and talking with different people since odds were he might learn something new or at least come away a little more informed for the experience. âMost of the ministry members who need to come here and deal with banking matters donât actually speak a word of Gobbledegook.â he told her, âSo I thought Iâd likely get the job they needed done in half the time if I came myself. Save some otherâs a little bit of work.â he added, âWhat about yourself? Here for banking business or just taking in the ally?â
âI am not sure about that.â She said carefully, of course she had been told since young age that the wizards and witches -pure bloods of course- were above any of these creatures and that the things the goblins claimed they did were not true and just their way to get things. of course she did knew it was a sensitive topic but one that she was pretty much sure that they were on the right. Still she wasnât going to argue about that because in the end she didnât care all too much about it, and she knew that she will more than likely not change the mind of anyone just as no one would change hers so it would be getting into a disagreement for no reason and why ruin a perfectly nice day? âThat is very true, you canât expect people to treat you nicely if you donât give respect back after all.â
âNice to meet you Dirkâ She said taking his hand with a polite smile. She gave a faint nod as he spoke, well that explained why he knew the tongue, though why of all things he would want to work with goblins she wasnât sure. âHm.. youâd think that if your job is to deal with them youâd try to learn at least something.â She couldnât blame them all too much but well it seemed very lazy to her that they wouldnât do something that involved their job even id unpleasant. âI was thinking of it yes... But you know those karts they use to take you to your vault? They always make me sick so I was really thinking about it.â
