As someone who has been in the "on fire" state most of my life I highly recommend people who are used to the kind of coping described in the second pic to look into/talk to your therapist about DBT strategies. DBT is used for people who have chronic disorders that cannot be fully reasoned out of (for example, my therapist uses it with me because I have schizoaffective), and its focus is on balancing acceptance of a person's situation (e.g. "I will have delusions") with action that is an incomplete solution and geared toward managing (e.g. "If I feel an episode coming on I will tell someone so they can watch me"). This can easily be turned into "My government is descending into fascism" (can't control) versus "I will support the people around me as best I can" (can control).
Nature really went off with sperm whales. A 70-ton predator with teeth the size of a banana but it only eats squishy prey that it doesn’t even chew, it just schlorps them down whole like a vacuum cleaner. Big giant fat head full of goop. Tiniest fins in the world. Strong enough to smash a ship to pieces and smart enough to figure out how to do so but its first line of defense is just to shit everywhere. Possibly the most complex language in the animal kingdom and it creates sounds by blowing air through its internal right nostril (it uses the left one to breathe) into its giant fat head. It’s the loudest animal on the planet and might have the capability to create a beam of sound so loud it can shake your organs apart but they don’t seem to use that to hunt or fight. They’re highly flammable. We used them to make candles.

Moreover, overpopulation is an ecofascist myth specifically scapegoating ‘developing’ nations in the global south for climate disaster.
In reality, populations only rise so sharply as people begin to receive better access to healthcare and maternal and infant mortality in particular decrease. Eventually, as healthcare access is more evenly distributed through a population and people on a larger scale are able to access family planning care, the population stops increasing and levels out and decreases.
Which is why so-called ‘developed’ are all now manufacturing a crisis about population decline and not having enough bodies to fill out the labor force while simultaneously fearmongering about overpopulation in racialized groups. It’s eugenics shit.
This video is almost 10 years old and is so good at educating against ecofascist ideas of overpopulation. Makes me angry 10 years later we're still dealing with eugenics
I LOVE THIS VIDEO AND I LOST IT FOR AGES AND NOW I FOUND IT
Everybody go watch Hans Rosling destroy ecofascism thank u
Getting a weird little hobby is actually so important bc it opens your eyes up to the world. You start crocheting or knitting, and now you see scarves and sweaters differently. You try identifying plants, now you’re seeing opposite and alternate leaf pattern. Bird watching? Every chirp draws attention and interest.
Get into weird little hobbies.
