I love this scene from 4x03, because there’s no violence in Castiel’s touch, nor disinterest in his eyes. Just think of how Zachariah zapped Dean back in 5x04, after Dean had to see Lucifer possessing his brother. Cas is not like the other angels. He reaches out and touches Dean’s shoulder because he’s beginning to grasp how hard this is for him. How Dean doesn’t deserve this. It’s a gesture of compassion.
