indie fallout multi. nuked by squeaks. low / sporadic activity. rules and characters below cut - working on gdoc / caard for mobile.

GENERAL: 32. AEST timezone. chronically forgetful.

SELECTIVITY: mutuals only!

SHIPPING: very open to ships, all characters excluding lily and s2-81 are multi-ship friendly. chemistry is important - don't force ships. gimmie all that platonic/familial goodness too.

CONTENT: mature themes ahead! fallout at it's core touches on multiple triggering topics ( i.e violence, addiction, abuse, death, ect ). i try to tag accordingly but may miss things by accident.

LORE FAMILIARITY: i'm most familiar with f:nv and f4, and partially familiar with f1 + 2. i haven't delved too much into f3 or 76, and i'm not completely up to date with the amazon series ( spoilers don't bother me! ). i take the amazon series' version of canon with a little grain of salt - especially given that they faced dinky the wrong way. justice for dinky.

TRIGGERS: as stated above i try to tag general triggers as best i can. i'll be as accommodating as i can if asked to tag something in particular!

UNFOLLOWING / BLOCKING: i often unfollow blogs that have been inactive for 6+ months, but will often re-follow if i see them floating around on the dash again. if at any point you decide blocking me is the best choice, please hard-block so that things don't get awkward and i don't accidentally re-follow!

a red pikmin topped with a single brittle leaf climbs clumsily up a long-abandoned desk, hefting its prize proudly into sheila's field of view... a single rusty bottle cap.

at first, she thinks she's simply overtired. she had been sitting at her little dilapidated desk in the corner of her tent for a while now, fiddling away trying to repair a busted circuit in her pipboy, when something moving and red snagged her attention... only for her to double take at it.

it couldn't be a bug, surely... it was too bi-pedal for that. and the leaf ( why does it have a leaf? ) was too plant looking for it to be a bastardised leaf insect... a mutant, maybe? albeit a very small, bottlecap carrying one?

" hey, lil' guy, " sheila murmurs, ducking her head low enough to be at eye level with this little... creature. " what'cha doing? "

“ that’s a good point,” sheila offers, now craning her head to the side as if to get a better view of their eyebrows. deacon has a point; she’d never noticed the faint ginger hairs hiding behind the frame of his sunglasses.

to sheila’s surprise they take her up on the offer. a wide grin appears upon her face, all goofy and crooked. “ i mean, i’ll try, ” she teases as she carefully takes the rasor from their hand. “ can’t make any promises though. ”

taking a moment to peer around the room for something for him to sit on, she eventually spots an old wooden crate. he’s a touch taller than her, enough so that either sheila’s arms would become very sore from reaching up, or deacon’s neck would kink from ducking down for her. it is quickly pulled over from the corner it had been abandoned in, and with a quick pat atop the frame to signal him to sit, she gets to work.

     he nearly rests his hands on the crate, then realizes that’s a good way to get a splinter & folds them in his lap instead.   ‘ it’d be a fun scar to make up stories for, though, ’  they muse as she gets to work.  ‘ could say a bullet grazed my head. or a deathclaw nearly got me in its grip. a surgery scar from them removing my synth programming chip. ’  not worth the way it would make him stand out, though. deacon has carefully crafted their appearance to be as unmemorable as possible.  like the glasses, to hide his uncommonly bright blue eyes.

      it’s only when they think about the glasses that they realize the predicament they’ve gotten themselves into: sheila’s going to need them to take the damn things off so she can shave their head properly. terror pokes pins into his lungs. fuck.

       well, no going back now. the only thing worse than an unshaved head is a half-shaved one. she’s going to be concentrating too much to look at your eyes, anyway. calm down.   ‘ hey, ’  he says, careful to keep his voice casual,  ‘ when the glasses get in the way, just let me know. ’

admittedly , she had never wielded a straight razor before. she takes a moment to weigh the pre-war metal in her hands for a moment, getting a feel for how best to hold it, before wiping the blade off on a spare cloth tied to her belt. “ i'd much prefer not to cut you, but hey... if my hand slips, we'll go with that story. ”

after a moment she gets started. it's an awkward first pass, unsure exactly how to go about it, before she eventually settles on planting her artificial hand squarely atop deacon's head while starting to shave downwards from his crown. sheila's hand movements are slow at first, seemingly hesitant, but with each pass she gains more confidence. it's almost peaceful for a while, the faint scrape of the razor the only sound in the dilapidated room as the fine red and white stubble is shaved away.

their initial comment about needing to move his glasses is met with a distracted hum of acknowledgement, though a few moments later she finds herself having to take him up on the offer as she nears his ears, her next words accompanied by a pat pat to the top of his partially shaved dome. “ okie-doke, you might need to move them now. ”

i think some of the funniest comparisons between sheila and wallace on this blog vs how i play them on rdro rp is;

* sheila got SO FUCKED UP, burns on half her body, lost fingers and an eye during a torture scene, ptsd... i was so mean to her

* sheila was very briefly a criminal because she was down bad for another crim, but turned things around and became a deputy

* somehow wallace went from being a crim to a deputy who's one of my most liked characters despite being feral - she has bitten two criminals so far

* wallace was the one to get brain damage!

so i've been on a red dead redemption rp server for almost two years now, and sheila finally died back in april. getting to play a version of sheila in real time was such a joy, and ngl i'm still grieving her death on the server - my little brain baby finally fucked up a little too close to the sun

"well. yes. it usually presents without symptoms, but i happen to think you're a likely candidate for it. it can pose problems during pregnancy, and though i'm not arguing that's relevant- sheila. please don't hold the cat that close to your face. i think i mentioned our lack of antihistamines. in fact, i know i did." he shakes his head. "you could look into hypoallergenic cats. though my guess would be that if they ever existed, they're extinct by now. you'll have to find a mad scientist. not me, for the record."

a pause.

"i don't qualify."

her nose has started to run now, signaled by the loud, wet sniffles she makes while searching her pockets for a handkerchief, still holding the cat in one arm.

" i know, i know! but he's so cute, look at his little face- " another sneeze, this one followed by three or four more in quick succession. finally, mercifully, sheila relinquishes the cat and places it gently on the ground. the cat, seemingly now satisfied with the chaos, brushed against sheila's leg once, then arcade's, before disappearing into the rubble of a nearby building.

" i can't believe they never figured out a way to cure allergies, " she mumbles, voice now very nasally given her dripping nose. " before the war, i mean. i mean, they figured out so much other junk! "

[aamusedly]

It took a moment to register for Boone, but once he started processing that she was there against him, his arms locked behind her in a tight embrace. He hadn't hugged anyone in... a long damn time.

A hand pressed into the back of her neck, cradling her close as his cheek turned to her temple. "Jesus Christ, Sheila..."

"I was worried you were dead. I thought-- fuck. I'm glad you're okay."

it took every ounce of what little strength she has left not to burst into tears there and then in his arms, the sense of safety proving to be almost too much to bear.

the hand against the back of her neck was firm. warm. secure. though if he looked beyond the feeling of holding her close, he would notice something... off. a lack of cushioning where her shoulder length hair would normally be, even if it had been tied back.

" i'm sorry, " sheila whimpered against his shoulder, reluctant to move away to speak clearer. " i'm sorry, it-- it was so fucking weird, i don't even know where to start with it... "

upon hearing the sneeze, arcade turns, and gently pries the cat from sheila's hands.

well. attempts to, anyway. it's a brief attempt, and it ends abandoned. sheila and sense seem sometimes about as prone to repulsion as ill-poled magnets.

"do you understand," he begins, "that repeated exposure to allergens can increase the severity of reactions? barring that, what if the cat has fleas? i highly doubt it's had any vaccinations." he pushes his glasses ever so slightly up his nose. "have you heard of toxoplasmosis?"

sheila makes a loud, petulant whine as arcade attempts to relinquish the feline from her grasp. as soon as he promptly gives up on the attempt she holds the little creature close to her chest once more, scratching lovingly under it's chin.

the cat, surprisingly, seems remarkably placid throughout this whole ordeal. tilting it's head upwards in response to the scratches offered, it starts to purr loudly ( which, in turn, is met with a strange mix of a heavily suppressed squeal and an adoring aww from sheila ).

" toxoplasmosis? no i haven't, b-but from the sound of it i'm guessing... infection of some type? "
