FRC Worlds/Assassin

I’m happy to say my team has indeed qualified for worlds!

Unfortunately due to a lack of mentor and student support as well as a lack of funding it appears we are unable to go this year. I’m very sorry to the people who were hoping to participate in the assassin game that I ran last year. If my team decides to go next year or the year after I, or someone else from my team, would be happy to run it again though. @first-alum-findings has mentioned running a virtual version of the game so definitely check her page for updates on that if you are interested. If there is anyone going to worlds this year who is interested running it themselves this year(and hopefully helping me run it next year)feel free to reach out to me and I would be happy to send you the rules and help you plan it. ( just make sure you tag me so I can see how it goes!!!)

why am I not surprised that our team decided to (essentially) start a revolution in order to convince the mentors to build a completely different robot two weeks before district champs😭😂

Scouting/strategy meeting from 10pm-1:30am at uri

At the 11pm mark it was just me(head scout), the strategy lead, and the head mentor left

at 11:30 our head mentor tells us our scouting and strategy mentor had wanted us to end the meeting and go to bed at 11

Around 12am we noticed our driver asleep at a table near us in the hotel lobby

At the 12:30 mark we started looking at possible third robots and how they preformed in previous matches(it got kind of painful to watch at times)

At 12:45 our strategy lead started laughing hysterically

At 1am our driver woke up and finally went to bed(I had tried to wake him up multiple times before then but turns out he’s a really heavy sleeper)

at 1:30 we finally finished our pick list and I had to practically drag our delirious strategy lead back to our room

“I’m helping you practice for when you have to take care of your drunk friends”

I’ll tell you now, trying to convince a sleep deprived person not to go wake people up to go play football at nearly 2am is a struggle 😂

For some reason this competition has felt like a fever dream

Our Driver pulled out a loaf of bread and half the team just started eating straight bread(this was like twenty minutes after lunch)

Almost our entire team has been sitting in the pits doing each others homework???

our head mentor literally had to yell at everyone to go sit in the gym and support the team

we have three different people with different opinions drive coaching at the same time

Someone’s wearing a note like a belt

I suppose it was worth it though seeing as we won!

(I apologize for how late I am in posting this)

The prank war continues- I have been informed that there was a prank war going on with 7407 and possibly another team at some off season events before I joined the team,

got there with pit crew (and mechanical mentors daughter) very early in the morning and found the pits filled with different types of beach balls, according to the pits next to us 7407 had already left well before our team did and they were clearly not in their pits when we got there,

Scouting and strategy mentor then showed up and they three of us(mechanical mentors daughter, Strategy mentor and I) moved all the beach balls to 7407’s pits

Assassin(the final update)

It may have taken more than twelve hours but the other person running this blog got out @pit-crew-chronicles!!!

We were playing charades and the two had been fidgeting with the straws for hours, pit-crew-chronicles put the straw down on her lap for barely a second before I saw the other person fall forward from her seat next to me. None of us knew what was going on so pit-crew-chronicles reached out to grab her before she could fall, unfortunately she took her hand too far from the straw and was tagged out.

we are down to the final two, safety captain was taken out by the person who is running this blog with me(we planned to meet on the second floor of the building and she managed to tag out safety captain since they didn’t know she had them as a target yet)

As you may have seen on @pit-crew-chronicles some people from different teams are playing assassin. I am the ‘game master’ and will be posting on here updates for what’s going on in the game. Everyone has had their targets now for around twenty minutes and someone has already been taken out.
