Once again, a sign that things are not going well for Israel. In addition to Netanyahu's government being very divided (to the point of almost collapsing several times) over everything from the ceasefire (the more extreme members of his cabinet hate it) to whether or not Israel should open a second front in Lebanon (as in fight an open war against Hezbollah and Hamas at the same time), now you have the government picking a fight with the media.

In times of war, there's usually a strong cohesion between a government and its media. The media would act more like spokespeople for their government than anything else. They don't usually do exposes until the war is finished (see the American media before, during, and after the Iraq invasion). The fact that Haaretz released that article shows how much Netanyahu's government is trusted in Israel but the fact that the government is reacting so openly shows they know they're losing public support and fast.

None of this would be happening if they were winning in Gaza.
