i think my hottest (mainstream) bayverse transformers take is that cade yeager should've just been a butch lesbian. comphet dead husband who she got married to straight out of highschool in order to cover up for the fact she was pregnant. she cared for him, but didn't love him romantically. hasn't re-married since because she realized she was gay and she's also still a prickly, grumpy hermit who's first and foremost concern is her failing robotics company. she's a single mother who doesn't have a naturally nurturing bone in her body. her over-protectiveness of tessa is informed by her own experiences and the fear of tessa having her autonomy stripped away by an abusive relationship, creating tension between her intentions and her actions. she is covered in machine grease and dirt, has too many guns and a graveyard of empty beer cans, and has an easier time relating to the autobots than her own daughter because she too feels like a machine. like it's just so much more interesting. also it'd mean i wouldn't have to look at mark "hatecrimes mcgee" wahlberg.
