we all love rocky giving grace open heart surgery but let’s consider the alternative. what kind of terrible embarrassing painful etc medical conditions might develop if one from a highly social species were alone under enormous amounts of stress for say, nearly 50 years? would that hypothetical condition/s require intervention from someone with opposable thumbs? crack that carapace open baby, grace has got to palpate your internals

eggbound is obviously a classic, and rightly so. but there’s lots of space to play in organ touching land! some sort of mineral buildup requiring manual extraction? perhaps it’s not even sexual in nature for rocky but grace is elbow deep in his buddy, sweating his life’s electrolytes out into his suit, covered in fluids, and maybe the lines begin to blur

yes to rocky’s perspective grace is fragile and squishy, but he’s also extremely resilient and dexterous. he enters the vacuum of space regularly! his body and mind can handle much more than an eridian might expect given his meat body’s lack of armor. not to mention he lives in frigid temperatures! this is all to say that grace is rocky’s strong as fuck ice mummy

Living with a mammal must be so LOUD for rocky. all that blood rushing, all those joints creaking, muscle fibers contracting, intestines groaning and swooshing, synovial fluid popping. the slick swivel of eyeballs every single time grace moves his eyes. the whumbump of his heart, constant. how fine is rocky’s hearing? can he hear the click of grace’s glottis opening before he speaks? can rocky hear the crackle of his alveoli exchanging gas? maybe, he thinks, if he listens closely enough he can hear the electrical impulses of grace’s grey matter as he dreams :)
