One of my friends (a law student) gave me a pick up line to use while I was discussing a radiation contamination event yesterday (it was a false alarm thank god).

The pick up line>>> “Are you a lethal amount of radiation because I got a-cutie radiation syndrome.”

Heyy im sososoooo sorry to ask this and idk if you learned it on your career but, how exactly function gamma rays? (Talkin bout jack’s powers) what i mean is, when i think about how jack defeats the opponents i think bout total dessintegration of the body, but gamma radiation rlly can do that in an instant? Cuz in phisics class they told us that gamma rays can affect the body attacking directly the atoms n idk what more cuz they didnt rlly explained it but anyway.

Also Ive searched n in a video was told that the natural origin of gamma rays was from the space by the coalition of two stars made into a black hole but it only lasted like a minute. It leaves smth in the space like radioactive idk how to translate it? If it doesnt last long but is very strong, then how would b if it lasted longer? (Refering also how many damage jack would do).

So gamma radiation has high penetration power but it’s got less damaging power. The reason why it’s so dangerous is because it breaks the double helix in our DNA causing a missing puzzle piece or hole to be there. Our body tries to fix this by making up a code of DNA to fill the gap or by smashing the broken DNA gap together which will ultimately lead to risk of things like cancer.

Gamma radiation does come from the stars throughout the galaxy, you were right about that. We’re actually always exposed to small amounts of radiation from the stars and from the metals in the earth. As for the stars dying out and leaving bits of radiation in the galaxy, gamma radiation travels really far. This goes back to the high penetrative power but low damage in small amounts.

If gamma radiation lasted longer it’d be likely to cause more damage, but if you wanted it to be really dangerous for Jacks powers sake, then having more of it would be the way to go. Just to give some hypothetical numbers, .001 curie of a gamma radiation source would be relatively harmless, but 1 curie of gamma radiation would definitely have me raising an eyebrow💀

Something I love about the Gammabeam fandom is seeing all these elaborate, symbolic, masterpieces of headcannons that bring awareness to or deep dive into dynamics of two very different people.

And then there are the dorks like me with the most random questions like “what kind of music would these two listen to?”

Well my brain is going down this route. (Also I need to distract myself because I got pissed off by something so stupid)

Do you even think that, Gamma Jack was scared of holding babies/Infants or kids?

I mean yes, he can control his radiation because he knows what he's doing, but I'd like to think he cares but babies are fragile to him and honestly he knows he a walking nuclear bomb with a high radiation level.

After all people would assume he doesn't like babies or kids in general, when in fact he doesn't mind kids or babies, he just doesn't want to hold them/accidently giving them radiation poisoning. Again he could control his radiation but I'd like to think he tends to doubt himself, because even though he has his powers underwraps, a part of him fears that his radiation would bleed through causing harm and damage to the kids or infants.

Like a high potential during the Ban/relocations of the supers, depending on the timeline when Violet was born, I'm positive that Jack was terrified of holding Violet when she was born. Because I'm sure that Bob called Simon, Jack and as we already knows Lucius to come see Violet. Imagine being Jack and seeing your friends holding a baby in their arms, while Jack on the other hand is refusing to hold her, because of one he doesn't know if Violet is immune to his powers or two he's not sure if Violet even has powers at all, to him a baby is still a baby a very defenseless in a cruel, cruel world. But in the end he just smiles but still refuses to hold Violet but does he explain his reasoning to both Helen and Bob?

I'd say no.

He just refuses to hold her, he wants to hold her, but every fiber of his body just screams at him what if he hurts her, does some damage to her or the very least cause every lasting side effects to her. He'd be traumatised by what's he done.

So he takes the precaution of not holding any babies at all, it's a fear he takes since again kids are fragile like glass to him.

Although his friends can see how he hesitant and scared he is but they don't push it even though they find it weird as he has control over his radiation they don't understand why he can't just cradle any infant or baby in his arms.

They could see he wants to, as they slight push him to hold a baby in his arms but he tends to let his fears hold him back. He wants to hold babies and children but his fear always sets him back, due to how he could accidentally kill them.

Though I do believe he finally did hold Violet in is arms once, how? Very easy the simple parent. "I need to go real quick"

Either Bob or Helen went "Here" no warning and Jack held Violet in his arms and when I tell you Jack was not okay, he was trembling when Violet looked at him, he was going to cry because Violet was perfectly fine and cradled into his arms just looking at him.

Though when they came back Jack handed Violet back into their arms and rubs his hands together clearly worried since nothing happened but the thought of something happening truly made him worried but both Helen and Bob assured him that Violet is alright, nothing is wrong with her and he didn't hurt her.

It was the most traumatic event he endured but it did heal him from assuming the worst?

Heavens no, it helped somewhat he'll hold a baby for a about a few seconds and be like. "Alright time's up cute kid"

It's progress for him but in the end he'll go back to not holding any babies or kids. Again due to the fear of his powers.

Although it's just a little HC of mine but overall I think it'd be interesting if he was indeed scared of hold kids let alone babies at all. Think it'll haunt him in his nightmares if he ever found out he'd accidentally harmed a baby or kid.

This day was the worst fucking day ever for Gamma Jack, everything went to hell, first thing in the morning, he'd woke up with a pulled muscle in his neck. Next he tripped in front of everyone...EVERYONE at the NSA because how? His fucking cape got caught underneath his foot and he just laid there for a moment on the ground.

Thankfully no one laughed at him, although it got even worse, Blazestone and Apogee were busy with whatever they needed to do when today was they're to gossip!

But the worst thing that happen. He allowed a villain to get away, he doesn't even remember how it happened or when it happened it just happened, of course his agent was chastising him as he sat in the interrogation room, being scolded like a child. He wasn't a child, he hated being treated like a child, right now what he wanted to do was just go home and sleep for all of eternity, so when he left the interrogation room off with a simple warning. Right now what he wanted to do was go home and sleep in forgetting everything before waking up saying. "Wow that was a strange nightmare"

Yet as he walked, he entered the lounge room, usually Hypershock would stay in here with his hangovers because it was dark, quite, and no one uses it unless the day is slow and there's nothing going on. But it wasn't empty that's for sure.

The reason being Gazerbeam was laying sideways on the couch doing whatever he was doing and before Gamma Jack knows it he struts over towards him and stood in front of him.

It took a moment for Gazerbeam to finally noticed the blond standing in front of him but looked at him a bit concerned.

"Jack, you alright?" Gazerbeam asked.

Soon with out a single word, Jack crawls into Gazerbeam's personal space and just lays down on top of him holding, just startling Simon for a moment before sighing soft as his hand reached towards the golden locks as he carefully ran his fingers through his hair gently.

"Guessing rough day?"he asked.

Of course Jack nodded against his chest as he wrapped his arms around Gazerbeam's torso closing his eyes enjoying the soft treatment.

Jack didn't know how long he'd be like this but it was needed, besides he enjoyed this, moreover he loved hearing Simon's steady heartbeat it was relaxing, not only that he enjoyed having his hair being played with,this was something he truly needed.

With the silence around them, Jack heard Simon speak. "You wanna talk about how rough the day was or just stay quite?"

"Quite" he mumbled.

"Okay, we'll stay quite" Simon nodded as he continued to play with Jack's hair.

"Thank you Si, I needed this."Jack mumbled softly.

Gazerbeam nodded as he continued to pet his hair also feeling relaxed as Jack held onto him, this was definitely needed which he didn't mind but still he was glad to stay like this until Jack was feeling better.

"I love you Simon" Jack mumbled softly.

"I love you too Jack, now you just relax."Simon smiled as he held him carefully. Since it this was something his boyfriend needed.

Consider a universe where Simon and Jack try so hard to work out and Jack feels like Simon is maybe the only person who he feels truly normal around. He just gets to feel like a normal person. And for once in his life he doesn’t feel like there’s something wrong with him and he’s just constantly and desperately pursing the feeling he gets when he’s around Simon until he burns himself out realizing that he cannot survive exclusively on that high that Simon gives him. And he realizes that Simon can’t be his cure
