The Momdoulary Difference - Guest Post with Jesika Wachter
Today we have a guest post by Momdoulary Graduate, Jesika Wachter of The Parent Garden. Check out her site and service, Jesika is top notch!
Enjoy her post below:
“Ma, Mom, Mommy! Da Dad Daddy!” We all have a parent(s) and if we are so inclined, we’d like to take on that role as well one day. For most of us it seems ingrained in our beings. Our bodies are miraculous and without much thought from us, the female body is designed to grow and create a human being. Women are even capable of birthing said human, but as we have all seen on TV, it’s no easy task.
What about after our little humans arrive? There is a lot to be said about instinct, however, it can all be quite confusing and overwhelming, not to mention exhausting. In steps the role of the Doula. She’s knowledgeable, caring, and harbors absolutely no judgment. She allows you to be the miraculous parent you are designed to be while giving you guidance and support along the way. She is someone you feel comfortable with.
As with any education doula’s have a choice with whom they will study. Many programs are very self-driven with lists of books to be read and tasks to complete all on your own. The Momdoulary program offers 20 weeks of comprehensive yet flexible online courses that enable each participant to finish with 6 different certifications. The difference is that the program guides each new doula through the path from week to week allowing her to absorb and fully understand the content at hand. The well-rounded nature of the program enables her to learn all aspects of the role of a doula so that in the end, she is able to make a very educated decision on which specific path she chooses to take.
It’s important to note that the scope of a doula is quite broad, and through a Momdoulary training she will find herself prepared and educated to be not only a Labor Doula, Postpartum Doula, Antepartum Doula, In-home Childbirth Educator, Lactation Educator, Parenting Preparation Coach, but a Family Lifestyle Professional Organizer as well. The diversity and breadth of information is invaluable as she has the option to follow one path or multiple, but always having a lovely wealth of knowledge in subjects that will only compliment her proficiency. The program facilitates the growth of each new doula to be all that she can be and implores her to follow her heart, utilize the tools that have been provided to her, but continue to grow, learn, and explore additional passions that she may add to her tool box and package.
The Momdoulary method takes on a doula role itself while educating and informing new doulas along their path. While she is shown to make the best decisions for herself and her new role, she is guided to do the same for her clients. She is shown how unbiased support can be wonderful in helping others to claim and empower their intuition and life’s choices during times of great transition.

Learning by example might not always work. Some of us are lucky and feel that our parents did a great job raising us. Most of us though, feel exactly the opposite. How seriously do we take the roll of parent? How does one prepare for this staring roll?
