Oooops...I haven't been online much lately!
Things have been super crazy for me with the end of the semester. But, now I've got a great break and will be flying home to see my family for the first time in 5 months!
I'm ridiculously excited - I've planned plenty of Advent/Christmas activities for my siblings, including my 3 year old sister. (yes, my siblings literally span 20 years). St. Nicholas Day is first on the list, followed by a traditional Polish ornament workshop!
On a super exciting note, I think I've finally found the doula program for me! A woman from one of my FB groups (The Head Covering, Skirting Catholic Corner) shared her doula company with us. You can check it out here: Catholic Doula Program Certification.
It's a new-ish program, but the doulas in charge are very experienced and follow the DONA certification reqs...just with greater emphasis on spirituality. For one, I love that they do rebozo work - this gives me a lot of ideas about using my costume/folk design in my doula practice! I also love that the program thoroughly addresses post-partum/miscarriage/stillborn support. That's sooo soooo important, because new moms are often overwhelmed for several weeks after birth. I'd love to also work as an antepartum doula - seeing my mom struggle with a high-risk pregnancy/confined bed rest/an emergency cesarean - I know these women need a LOT of support.
Anyway, despite worries about overloading myself, I'm hoping to start my training around new year. They have a self-pace program specifically for college students and busy moms, so I will probably choose that route.
Tonight I thank Elohim for His never-ending gifts. Specifically for Korean lemon crackers. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
