Dry Spell - L.DK one shoot

Today’s shoot was not it. Despite everything the members say, Dokyeom knows, deep down in his heart, that this isn’t it.

“Great job, guys.” The director said. Dokyeom smiles at him, but the smile never touches his eyes. It weighs heavily on his shoulders, the fact that he didn’t give his best.

Seungcheol notices it. Of course he does. There’s a reason why he’s the leader, you know? He always notices small things that are often missed by others. He embraced Dokyeom’s drooping shoulder, “hey man, are you okay?”

Dokyeom wants to lie and say everything is fine, he really did, but he just shakes his head. “I don’t know how Carats are going to respond to this.” He lets out a heavy sigh.

“It’s okay, Kyeom. You’re doing great there, I’m sure Carats will love it.” Seungcheol gave his shoulder a reassuring tap, “I’ll get going. I need to be on the next schedule in 20 minutes. Don’t worry about today too much, okay?”

No, he can’t. He’s a big F guy, of course he will overthink. The ride back to the apartment was gloomy, even his manager worried something had happened and offered to stay with him, so he wouldn’t be alone until the other members arrived.

Dokyeom sigh when he enter his apartment unit, then sigh again when he took his shoes off. He walk straight to the kitchen and take a bottle of water out of the fridge. The water quickly dissipates. He squeezed the now empty bottle.

“Yo, are you okay, bro? You don’t look good.” Vernon, who just arrived home, asks. He can sense that his older member is in a bad mood, God knows what’s the reason.

Dokyeom rubbed his face and shook his head, “no. But thanks for asking.”

“You want to talk about it?” The younger member asks again. 

Dokyeom removes his hands from his face and smiles, “thanks, Non. I’m just going to take a shower and cool my mind off a little bit. Good night.”

Vernon understands that he doesn’t want to talk about this anymore, so he just nods. “Good night, too.”

The shower did nothing, in fact it just made him more blue about the situation. He turned off the water and dried his body with a towel. He looks at the reflection on the sink mirror. “You should do better. I know you can do better than that. Why didn’t you? It’s your fault if Carats hate us, Dokyeom.” He may look crazy, or maybe he is crazy. Talking with one's own reflection is a bit strange after all.

Dokyeom dressed in his pajamas, and did his usual skincare. Maybe sleep will help, and tomorrow when he wakes up, he’s in a better mood.

It’s another day, Dokyeom is in a better mood because today is a fansign event. He loves Carat, it’s the best thing that could happen in his idol life.

So with a wide smile, he greet the fan. “Hi, long time no see. How are you today?”

“Oh, hei, Dokyeom.” That’s strange, their tone is unexcited, this never happened before. “Mmm well I’m good.”

Dokyeom signs the album they gave him, then asks “why with the tone? Are you in trouble?”

“No, but I think this will be the last fan event I attend.” That is alarming. Even without voicing his question, Carat understood and replied, “you know, after the recent Going Seventeen episode where you’re not as funny as usual, I think I never knew who you really are. The more I think of it, the more I grew to hate you, you’re not funny.”

“No! I am the funniest member.”

The fan’s face changed. The eyes dark as abyss, and they have this weird unsettling smile. “Stop lying! You’re faking it the whole time. You’re boring, unfunny, and none of your jokes makes me laugh. And now, the world will know just how boring you are. Hahahaha.”

“No, no… That’s not.. NO!”

“NO!” Dokyeom jolts awake. He’s drenched with sweat and out of breath. He looks at the clock on his nightstand, 3.04 AM. “That’s just a nightmare. Hah.” He tried to calm himself.

After a while he chuckled, none of that is true… Right?

He decides to make a post on Weverse.

The replys from Carats are encouraging and after reading it for quite a bit, he finally get to sleep knowing Carats love him. Even though sometimes his jokes are dry as hell.

Mona's note : well isn't it fun to write wkwk (idk how to write laughs) obviously this is an exageration after the recent GoSe Emergency Meeting episode and i read a comment saying DK must have had a nightmare about being not funny. so with the encouragement from my sis, i wrote this. hehe

It’s a hard day at work, Haneul just got back from visiting suppliers to confirm ingredients for new products. She lets out a huff and takes a look at her watch, 13 minutes to 1 PM.

“Just fucking great.” She whispers under her breath because of course there was a problem with the ingredients and the old man from the other company insisted they're not wrong, even when Haneul had the copy of agreement printed out. And now she skipped lunch.

As if her suffering wasn’t enough, her supervisor called from her room. “Ms. Baek, can you come to my room?”

She puts on a business smile and goes into the lioness’ room. “Mrs. Haynes, is there something wrong?”

“Yes. Your proposal is trash, I’m sorry but I don’t understand what's going on inside your head that makes you think this is okay to be presented to our executive. It’s even worse than before.” Haynes threw the proposal on the table.

“Excuse me?” Haneul asks, all the politeness gone, “I prepared this whole promotion with the whole 2nd team. You were too busy with your affair to care about this project yet you got the nerve to say this?!”

“Watch your mouth, Ms. Baek!” Haynes glanced outside. Sure enough some of the workers who're close enough to hear are looking through the glass.

“You should watch your behaviour, everyone in this office knows already.”

Haynes’ face turned redder by the second.

Outside, people whispered “should we call HR…?” The other person just shakes their head, “nah, this is entertaining.”

“We already submitted and re-do the proposal 6 times, every single time you didn’t bother to actually read it properly, you didn't even notice the last one doesn't get changed at all.” Haneul paused to take a breath, then continued “you know what? Fucking do it yourself!”

She walks out from the glass room, straight to her own desk, takes her stuff, then opens the top drawer where she kept a resignation letter ready.

“What are you doing, Han?” Her co-worker, Matthew asks carefully. His eyes widened when he saw Haneul take the letter. “No way!”

“Yes way. See you in a better place.” She gave him a wink then went to the HR department.

Haneul let out a groan when she tasted the dish. It was just a simple Gukbap but it hit the right spot. She tears up a little bit.

Living abroad at such a young age is cool and all, but she misses home.

“Found you!” Someone held Haneul’s shoulders from behind. When she saw who it was, her smile grew.

“Belle! What are you doing here? Did you just come back from crosschecking with our distributors?” She moved her jacket and bag from the chair so Belle could sit down.

Belle took a seat beside her and eyeing the menu. “Yep. But when I got back to the office, you’re gone already and it’s a mess. Haynes got called to HR and came back out really flustered.”

“So you skip the rest of the day?”

Belle didn’t get the chance to answer when a voice chimed in, “we did. Ma’am, 6 more gukbap for table 17!” Jake shouted.

Jay and Matthew are already moving another table to join with Haneul’s table. The whole 2nd managing team was there, Belle, Jake, Jay, Matthew, Ningning, and Yunjin.

“Hey! I want a kalguksu.” Yunjin slaps the back of Jake’s head then goes to the cashier table to correct the order.

“Jin, I want the beef hot plate and order a naengmyeon for Jay. He got mouth ulcers.” Matthew’s words make Jay angry.

“Oy I did not!”

Chaos ensues.

After the food came, the table got quiet and got somewhat peacefully.

Ningning clears her throat, “so what are you gonna do next?”

“I don’t really know. But I think I’ll go back home for now.” Haneul answers back.

Jay looked up from his samgyetang, “you’re going back with your parents?”

Haneul shakes her head before answering. “No. Announcer Baek is really busy right now, he is assigned to cover the olympic games for Korea. And my Mom would go with him, obviously. They’re still so in love, it’s borderline gross at this point.” She shivers lightly.

“Oh yeah I saw the videos of them going out on a date, they looked cute tho.” Jake mutters.

“Why would you see videos of them?” Yunjin asks.

“It’s on her fanpage. I’m the biggest fan of Lee Doona after all.” He says that with so much pride.

“Yikes, talk about creepy. That woman is married and her daughter is right here!” Ningning teases him.

Haneul clapped her hands to divert attention back. “Back to me. I’ll take a look at property in Korea, maybe it’s time to fulfill my dreams of owning a homestay in a village.”

“Wait, I think one of my family is trying to sell one of their houses. Let me ask them.” Jay takes out his phone and makes a call outside.

A few minutes later he comes back with a smile. “My granduncle is going to sell one of his houses. It’s in Sokcho I think? Near the entrance for Mount Seorak. Do you want me to send you his contact information?”

“Yes please, oh my God… Thank you very much Jay!” She is then busy messaging the contact Jay sent.

“But why would he sell the house?” Jake asked the important question. Mathew then added, “was there a murder case that happened there recently?”

Jay shakes his hands quickly. “Ey, none of that. He is a very superstitious person and the shaman he usually goes to said that he needs to sell that house if he wants his grandchild to get married.”

Ningning’s eyebrows rose. “What’s the correlation between that?”

“Oh it doesn’t matter. I love this house, I’ll buy it!” Haneul looked up from her phone and showed a picture of the said house.

The whole table got closer to see the photo. Some agree that it looks beautiful, but some remain a bit skeptical.

Matthew drew back first. “Aren’t you supposed to see it in person before deciding to buy it?”

Haneul just raised her shoulders. She doesn’t care about that, really. “Maybe. Anyway! Let’s enjoy these last moments before I go back home guys. You’ll miss me when I’m not around”

Belle just rolled her eyes, “I’m jealous of you. I want to quit too, but my internship isn’t finished yet.”

Then there’s a chorus of “me too” from around the table. They continue their days with arcade games and karaoke.

Mona's note : would you look at that... 1,097 words how on earth did i do that? now i'm struggling with the 2nd part because in my mind i need to write as much as this :" also i might be updating this slower cuz of my final research. i hate it so much but i hate college even more so i need to graduate rq

LoveNextDoor - Prologue

“I quit!” That’s what she says. A week later she stood in front of an abandoned house she bought impulsively.

“The house is a bit old, but with a bit of repairing it’s good as new!” Said the old homeowner cheerfully. A bit of repairing is to dismantle and rebuild half of the roof, replace most of the windows and doors, repair a bit of the rotten walls, update water and electricity systems, and finally painting and decorating the house.

“I’m sorry old man, I don’t think this house requires a bit of repairing…” Haneul pauses, “it needs a whole lot.”

The old man had the nerve to laugh, “well, feel free to ask my grandson and his friends for help! Right, Sanghyuk-ah?” He asked the young man beside him who just facepalmed.

“Meow!” A black cat came out of the house and rubbed its body against her leg.

“Oh look, a cat! Consider it a service from me. See you lad!”

Mona's note : rrrah it's here!! idk writing would be this hard... i was so stressed because i want the story to be just perfect, then the color theme, banner design, translating it to english... so much work. but let me know what you guys think?

LoveNextDoor - aura farmers

These 6 men live all their life in close proximity with each other. And I’m talking, their house is on the same street and they still share food like you see in the K-drama Reply 1988. So naturally, they made a friend group. Some had lived in another city and then come back, some never left their hometown, but nonetheless, they’re here.

– Lee Sanghyuk (Riwoo)

He prefers to be called Riwoo, much to his grandfather's regret. He doesn’t like how much his grandfather values shaman’s opinion over other things. He works as a freelance programmer who sometimes goes to the city to attend some meetings or workshops.

– Park Sungho

Art teacher at local high school and photographer on weekends. He’s the students’ favorite teacher to annoy. He secretly loves it though, but don’t tell his students because he will never hear the end of it. He’s tired.

– Myung Jaehyun

Independent music producer and has many hits, but somehow his parents think he’s unemployed. So he does a part-time job at Gaeul’s cafe so his parents stop bothering him. He is also a weird guy that sees too much brain rot content on the internet.

– Han Dongmin (Taesan)

Another independent producer, often works with Jaehyun. His love for music grew because his parents also loved music and opened a record store which he now manages after his parents retired.

– Kim Donghyun (Leehan)

Nice guy, fish guy, matji- huh? Who wrote this??? Anyway, he’s another weird guy but this one thinks he’s a fish. I don’t know how to explain it and I don’t want to know. Works at the local pet shop, and always spends his afternoon at Gaeul’s cafe to see the fishes in the aquarium there.

– Kim Woonhak

Professional screamer. Much like Haewon, you can hear him from miles away before you see him. They say, don’t put those two in the same room, but you can’t control who comes to Autumn Leaves Cafe. He’s still a student in university, majoring in sport management. He wants to work with Lotte Giants someday.

Mona's note : this is all so new to me, idk if i will ever use tweet form but i think this is such a nice and frankly quite easy way to introduce a character. but yeah, i'll learn on my pace

They always hang out at Gaeul’s cafe. The place is cozy, aesthetically pleasing, and has a nice view of the sea, but the internet connection is shit. So Gaeul started to remind the group to bring cash whenever they’re going to hang out at the cafe.

The newest addition in the neighbourhood. Recently quit her pretentious job overseas, and impulsively bought a house/villa in the countryside. Currently unemployed but working on some freelance work. Always get dragged on doing farm work by her next door neighbour/old homeowner.

– Kim Gaeul

You think you like money? WRONG!! She loves it more. Owns a cafe, named it Autumn Leaves Cafe, but open all season. When it’s peak holiday season, she (forced) her friends to help around the cafe. Also an avid novel reader, she can sniff even the faintest ship.

– Oh Haewon

LOUD, you can hear her before you see her. Surprisingly, she’s a kindergarten teacher. Even more surprising, she’s good with her job. But don’t let the persona fool you. Once she’s with her friends, the filter is off. She knows everything here, you’d hate to be her enemy.

– An Yujin

An influencer and teaches dance at Seunghan’s academy part time. She created a lot of choreos and dance trends on Tiktok. ½ of the podcast channel “Did Yu Know Me?” and sometimes invited the others as a guest.

– Hong Seunghan

a.k.a Xnghan. A dancer/choreographer. He’s in a dance crew called Xoulite and co-own a studio, XoulXtudio with his crew members. He used to live in Seoul, but now he only goes there if there’s work. He also choreographs for a lot of artists.

– Shin Yuna

A fashion lover, she even has her own channel where she shares fashion and make-up tips. The other ½ of the podcast channel “Did Yu Know Me?”. She used to model for high end brands, but now she manages her mother’s boutique.

Mona's note : the gang is here, but they're going to make appearance later (after part 3/4, i'm still considering). i'm not used to write in 2nd pov so it's a bit awkward for me to write y/n hence i named my character as haneul. feel free to read it however you like! also i'm using kazuha as the fc for a reason but you'll know it soon.
