More Exciting Than a Puppy
Pairing: Leehan × fem!reader
Warnings: Confession, mutual pining, teasing, denial, stubborn characters, lots of embarrassing feelings, playful arguing, Leehan suffering emotionally, fluffy romance.
Summary:After an unexpected hug and an even more unexpected confession, Leehan becomes determined to prove that you felt something too.
You were leaning against one end of the couch, trying to look much calmer than you actually felt.
He had just hugged you. Out of nowhere.
And it hadn't even been a quick hug.
It was one of those hugs where someone simply pulls you closer and keeps you there a few seconds longer than necessary.
And ever since then, you hadn't been able to think properly.
Leehan, of course, looked completely pleased with himself.
And now he was staring at you like he was waiting for an answer.
One you had no intention of giving him.
The answer seemed to catch him off guard.
He fell silent for a second.
Then he let out a small, disbelieving laugh.
But you forced yourself to keep a straight face.
He looked right back at you as if you were the one who wasn't making any sense.
And somehow that only annoyed you more.
You stopped yourself before finishing the sentence.
"It matters if you're the one saying it."
Your heart did something stupid again.
"That doesn't answer my question."
Leehan let out a quiet scoff through his nose.
Then he stood up from the couch.
You looked at him with little enthusiasm.
"I think you understood exactly why I hugged you."
Because yes, you had understood.
And that was exactly why you were trying so hard to avoid this conversation.
"You're imagining things."
Leehan opened his mouth to protest.
Then ended up rubbing the back of his neck. Clearly frustrated.
"I can't believe that's your conclusion."
You pushed yourself off the couch before he could keep arguing.
Leehan followed you with his eyes as you walked toward the kitchen.
Then you heard his voice behind you.
"You didn't feel anything?"
"I didn't feel anything."
The look on his face was offended.
Like you had personally insulted him.
"What do you mean you didn't?"
And because you were getting tired of this conversation, you said the first ridiculous thing that came to mind.
"It's more exciting to hug a puppy than it is to hug you."
The smile vanished from his face.
You had to look away to stop yourself from laughing.
But then you made the mistake of adding:
"Besides, I don't think I see you as a man."
Leehan just stared at you.
This time he actually looked scandalized.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"Exactly what it sounded like."
"That doesn't even make sense."
Leehan opened his mouth and he closed it immediately.
Then spent a few seconds staring at you like he was reconsidering his entire existence.
"Maybe it happened too fast."
"Maybe we should test it again."
"Or maybe you just haven't gone out with anyone in awhile."
"I'm saying maybe you're not used to it."
"Not until you admit you felt something."
After several attempts, you finally managed to kick him out.
"You definitely felt something!"
And finally, there was silence.
You stood there without moving.
Listening to his footsteps fade down the hallway.
Then you placed a hand over your chest.
And slowly slid down to sit on the floor.
All your courage disappeared at once.
"My heart almost jumped out of my chest..."
You could still remember the hug.
How hard his heart had been beating.
And how hard you'd tried to act like none of it affected you.
You covered your face with both hands.
"Why did he have to hug me like that all of a sudden?"
